I'm guessing the Evo's ignition kill system is pretty much fail-safe right? Someone is not going to get the car to start and the only way to steal it is either with a flatbed or the key.

I must be a dumbass too, since I didn't know that all EVOs have kill switches. Really? Where? Not trying to be a smart ***, I've just never heard or read about this before. Oh, and I feel your pain, but thankfully they didn't get the car.

Amen to Beaters! Its just not worth it for me to take the EVO through all the physical and human hazards in some places!

That seems to be the case. The cops told me that this was a very professional break-in. Nevertheless, the car wasn't moved an inch from where I left it. So I guess it's a good system. Won't save you from a flat-bed, though. I think I'll get that Boomerang Tracker installed after all.

It's listed as standard equipment, so I'm assuming all Evos have it.

In your key there is a (chip) and in the ignition there is a tansmitter/ reciever, with out that chip being close enoughh your car wont start. Thats why if you get remote start you will be asked for one of your keys, they put it close enough so that it will be picked up and your car will start

There's a way to drive off with it. The immobilzer system can be circumvented.

Kayaalp, check your PMs.

Beaters rock. Also I drove my Evo for the first time yesterday and fell in love with it all over again. At this rate I think I'm done modding.

Thus eliminating your kill switch feature. Right?

Not easily. A report was done on this a couple years ago when Mitsu first started using their current engine immoblizer. It would take a professional car theft, with ALL the tools they need approximately 2 hours to bypass the system. If you don't know your car is being broken into by then, you deserve to have it stolen.

This is why I was asking for the window decals few weeks ago that says the car has theft deterrent system installed.
It's stupid that Evo's don't come with one. Called my Mitsu dealer and they had no clue about that.
My insurance company told me they will send me some but I'll also order a few just in case.
My 03 Accord has them from the factory and if you guys wanna get them I found a website that sells the stickers for $1.80+shipping.
Not sure if it's worth it just for the stickers so I'm ordering a S2000 antena as well for $15

http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...NDOW-REGULATOR

The stickers are obviously item #1.

p.s. i'll post pictures of the sticker later when I get home

All remote starts I know of either remove the factory immobilizer system and replace it with aftermarket or require you to leave the key in the ignition - thus eliminating your kill switch feature.
I would never get it.

Umm. Actually. After workin on various engine swaps in mirages i've found that the immoblizier is very easy to disable. 00+ Mirage have them as do all the motors people want IN their mirages. this makes you have to disable it. Its actually a very simple process. If any one wants details you can go ahead and PM me. Educationgal purposes only tho.

Actually I think it's easy, but I don't want to risk the Evo commumity and their cars so I will not post how to.

If either of you are talking about the pedal combination thing, I believe they removed that from the Evolutions and I know for sure the new Galants as well. Now, the only way to disable it, or re-program the newest version of the engine immobilizer is through an OBD scan tool or whatever it's called.
