I would never get it.
I find that false depending on what alarm systems you are refering to. Your "high" quality alarm/remote start systems will require a donar key. This is kept in a seperate transponder box hidden deep in the car. The stock immobilizer system works with the aftermarket alarm. When the alarm tries to remote start the car, the alarm will go to the transonder box with the donar key and use that key's signature to start the car. When you get to the car, you then have to insert your stock transponder key into the ignition. The stock immobilizer will check to see if you have the correct transponder key in the ignition. If you press the brakes or push the e-brake down without putting the key in the ignition the car shuts off. Aside from all that, a thief would have to bypass the wiring for the stock immobilizer and aftermarket alarm.

Well, when I was asking around some time ago it was like that.
I'm curious to know what is the alarm system you're reffering to because I'd be interested myself.
Everything you wrote here sounds awesome.
Thx.

I have the Viper 791 2-way with remote start and turbo timer. My installer got the remote start working perfectly on my Evo. He installed a neutral safety switch so the car will not remote start if the car is in gear. I believe he used a magentic switch in the shifter.

Getting a good alarm installed is well worth the piece of mind.

Yes, not only because more people will be parking their cars in random places like mall parking lots, but also because the dishonest people who pay for stolen cars will be filling wishlists.

Is the engine immobilizer feature standard on the Evo's security or is it a dealer-installed option, or is it aftermarket?

It's standard, at least it's there on the window sticker but the decals don't come with the car (?!) so I ordered the Honda ones.

Kayaalp, sorry to hear about that...your car is creating quite a buzz here in Montreal. You were obviously the guy posting on montrealracing weren't you? We'll your car will continuously be a prime target here unfortunately and i wouldn't rule out those thieves coming back for another crack at it. I'll tell you one thing though, if I see your Evo parked downtown somewhere and i see punks messing with it, I will be glad to assist you in kicking some a$$...as a reward, u can take me for a ride

Actually, I have no idea what you're talking about! This is the first time I've ever heard of montrealracing. I guess I should check it out. I wonder what people are saying about my car???

That's what I'm worried about . Well, I'm having a Boomerang and alarm installed this week. Let's hope the same people try to break into it again so they get nailed. Maybe I can recover some of the costs of this repair...

What's a Boomerang?

I won't be satisfied until I can buy a security system like the one at the begining of RoboCop II.

Similar to a Lo-Jack, but better. Uses GSM mobile phone network rather than GPS locators, so it can track your car even if it's hidden from satellites (i.e., in a shipping container or in an underground garage). Also, it senses whether the car is moved without the key in the ignition (like with a flatbed) or if someone tries to hotwire it. In either case, it activates the locator. They have close to 100% recovery rate and most recoveries occur within 1/2 hour of theft. Pretty good stuff. They even have their own recovery team with helicopters and everything, so you don't have to rely on the cops.
