Time for a trany rebuild

I just noticed today that my reverse is gone, and i only have 38K on my evo 9, The question is should i build mine or an already used built trany or just have my core sent in. I am also thinking about have my tcase done while we are at it<

It depends on how deep your pockets are. The usual suspects are:

http://www.sheptrans.com/transmissions/evo.htm

http://www.teamrip.com/TRE_EVOLUTION..._SERVICES.html

http://www.jackstransmissions.com/pages/evo-selection

https://secure.buschurracing.com/cat...oducts_id=1019

If you have the funds, might as well see what you'd like to do about the clutch/TOB/flywheel.

Are you sure that your reverse is gone due to an internal transmission problem? I didn't have reverse in my car for the past three months and all of a sudden it started working again. I say check your linkage for kinks and if you have underhood bushings, make sure they aren't frozen. Lastly trying shifting the transmission manually by hand to see if it really is an internal issue. I do need a transmission though and I am going through MAP and Jack's Transmission for my build. I will be upgrading the clutch and line too. For my rear differential and transfer case I will be going through teamrip.

I'm going with Jack's myself. He's the only one who talks about aligning (blueprinting as he calls it) the synchros. I haven't heard any bad reviews of the other shops, it's just all they mention are replacing parts. The synchros are the main reasons why we're getting rebuilds in the first place.

Check out Shep for anything transmission. He has a great reputation in the Mitsubishi community and almost everyone can agree that the work that is done is quality.

I don't even think it's the quality of a build that comes into play with any of the shops. It is purely based off of customer service in my opinion. This is why I am going with Jack's Transmission and Map. Don't get me wrong, TRE and Shep perform amazing work but when I need to get in contact with them, it becomes quite difficult and time consuming. So while my transmission and clutch are being ordered I know I will have plenty of time to send my transfer case and rear diff. out to TRE.

Any of those places give great service. Just make sure you discuss the time frame that you will get your transmission back after it is rebuilt, unless you have a spare car to drive.. I have sent out my transmission and it was gone over a month.

Tranny issue

I went to the dealer today and told them what was the issue with my tranny, and the guy test drove is for 10 miles, and he said that oh it my clutch, but i did buy this car with this excedy twin disk. I must say to wait a month is pretty crazy for a tcase and a tranny. But the old saying (good things happen to those who wait) its true

Agreed, I have to say that the Shep feels much better than my last rebuild (I wont say names) fom another company. It didnt last a year before the tranny blew at the track. I went all out with Shep on the Tranny and T case. Id send your core in and let Shep work it out for you.
