what is it and what does it do!? that black/silver aluminum box that is screwed onto the radiator fan just under the intake pipe!! im planning to go with the slim fan and eliminating that "thing"... lmk if i need it or dont! thanks guys!!

Might be your fan control module.......(not too familiar with the E8), and if it is, you want to make sure and hook it back up.

thanks... you guys know if it needs to be hooked up right behind the fan!!? or it dont have to!!?? it seems like a heat sensor or maybe not!?

i have it too but its plug is off on it so its just sitting there on my car not attached, my fans work perfectly though and i have no over heating issues at all.

Doesn't matter where it sits as long as its plugged in. The fans get told when to come on based on the engines coolant temperature

how is that possible? either your only running the puller fan. ie. the big one that sits on the IC side of the radiator, or you directly wired your pusher fan to the harness that connects to the box?
