Stocks vs. Mods
TWOMIX9990 im totally with you.. but my car is under a 6 year warranty or 75,000 miles.
IF i wanna add MODS i gotta get it installed by Mitsubishi, and that won't effect my warranty. But labor cost per hour i heard is about $95 bucks at my closest dealer.... and u know dealers!! they're take their time and milk money outta you
Only mods ill do for now is turbo timer, gauges, and tailights...... MAYBE intake and exhaust if i can afford the labor cost.

Well I've got 19,000 miles on mine and haven't really done anything to make it faster or handle different. I've put some large mud flaps on it to try and knock down some of the gravel that gets kicked up
. I've put a four point harness for some autox and rallyx action. I've got a boost gauge and turbo timer. Buying parts is very hard for me with all the arguments out there about this persons parts are the best and this person sucks. It's just hard to figure out what to buy.

Actually I'd bet that a majority of the Evo's out there are stock.. The fact that there's more modified than stock on this site are the nature of this site.. We're mostly "In the Know" if we're on here and have the information we need at our fingertips to modify the car.
In the real world.. Many of the people who got this car, probably aren't aware of the large aftermarket, or simply they don't want to modify a new car.
My car is HEAVILY modified at this point.. and most thought I was insane to take my car apart 3 months after I got it. And in retrospect, I probably am insane for modifying a brand new car.. but thats the problem with this hobby, you can't leave anything well enough alone..
Funny part is prior to getting the evo, I had a 97 Z28 Camaro, and a 91 Corvette.. I Supercharged the corvette but it wasn't new when I got it, and I got the Vortech as promotional gift from Vortech.. But I didn't put much of ANYTHING into them.. and it wasn't that they were quick, they were pretty damn slow, I just didn't have the desire to do anything. The Evo just WANTS to be modified.. most mods take a very short time to install, and respond dramatically to most modifications. I just can't say that about alot of the other cars I've owned, where you make a change, and the butt dyno just didn't feel a difference.. and thats where 90% of the enjoyment comes from.. FEELING the difference.

What's the point of waiting?
IMO, the best time to mod is after the motor's broken in a little bit (5k miles or so), under the rationale that it's a new car and things are less likely to let go as compared to a car with 50k on the odo.

My car is completely stock except for a cat-back exhaust. It will remain this way as I run SCCA Autocross in the A-stock class. You are limited greatly by the mods and I don't feel like jumping to another class (ESP) until it gets settled as to where it will be in the future. Plus I love running A-stock!!!!
7,000 miles and currently running Vishnu Stage 1. HKS cams are in the mail for Stage 1+ tuning session, January 31, with Shiv. If something breaks, I guess I'll be paying out of my own pocket. I can't drive a stock car. Even if I had a 911TT, I'd probably have to add a chip and exhaust. I enjoy working on cars almost as much as driving them.
