the gauge needs power and illumination

the oil temp sensor just needs two signal wires

should be white to white and white/blue to black if I remember correctly

 

i just tried white to white
and white w/ blue to black =nothing

Then i tried it the other way around and still nothing. am i missing something? does that sensor need power?

 

ok so update, def need some help.

I hooked up the white to the white
i hooked up black to the white w/ blue stripe
obv hooked up red to red, yellow to yellow and ground to ground.

the gauge didnt work so i followed the wire all the way and there were no tears or anything, i disconnected at the white adapter and cleaned with mass air flow cleaner (sensitive electronics) i also cleaned the drain plug and the wires werent cut there either. so i dont know if its the gauge or the wiring. I hate when something doesnt work.

 

so, when you plug the wires what are you expecting the gauge to do? It's an oil temp gauge, so plug everything the way you've been told, then take the car for a ride, a long one, make some hard pulls or whatever needed to raise the oil temp, and you should see the needle go up to about 70-80 I'm not sure.
