Check this site and take a copy of the information with you. If they offered to put their clutch back in under warranty then you may have a problem, but they need to prove that your clutch caused the damage if not. You just recently put it in didn't you? Besides that, they cannot deny your complete warrany because of a drivetrain issue unless they can prove that you were racing it at a track.

they can't make you use their parts??? if you want them to replace your broken trans. they sure can. the clutch acts like a fuse, it goes before anything else does. you replace that clutch with a stronger unit, what is now the weakest part??? might be the trans, the transfer case, or maybe the axles. if you modify your car expect to break things. thats what happens. and dont cry to mitsu about it.

what??? totally legal. adding an exedy twin disc affects the entire power train. no it will not void the warranty on say............. your radio. but engine trans. drive axles, ohhhhh yeah warranty gone. and understandably so

I have been fighting my dealership and Mitsubishi Corp (located in S. Cali) For about 8 months now. I have had to shell out over $5,000 worth of work done to my car because they have refused to cover anything under warranty. My car has always been stock when I bring it into dealership, I remove everything except gauges.

I have had my car in for 2 clutch changes, new syncros, pads +shoes resufcaed rotors, and a new 3-4th arm in the tranny. Only once has the clutch and flywheel been covered and this is because it went out only 300 miles after driving the car (my car was a demo driven by the General Manager) And we fought them and said theres no way it can go out we just bought it, your GM ruined the car.. So they covered it.

10,000 miles later, i went in because the clutch went out, and I blamed it on my transmission because it was totally F'd making it very very hard to drive. They didn't cover it because they said they saw Bluing and crack on flywheel so they said i was abusing my car. However they did give me a discount on the brakes and a 10% discount on the clutch "because of their good faith" LMFAO which made them look even more guilty. So after shelling out all that money.

I have filed arbitration papers against the dealship and mitsubishi Corp. There are aribitration papers in your glove box if you ever wish to take them to court. My dad is a lawyer so I don't have to pay for lawyers fee's, but we are suing for all over our money back and for the cost of the car. Because we feel that we were sold a ****ty lemon with over 1,000 miles put on it in the first place. And that the dealership had not full inspected the car when they sold it to us. So our arbitration date is waiting to be set, and I tell you now this is will one hell of a battle.

I thought about getting a petition on evoM for everyone who has had similiar work done to their cars and them voiding warranties // not owning up to the warranty work that should be done to the car in the first place because of bull**** reasons like abusing and racing, nothing of which they can prove. I think its funny, how a warranty rep that live in S. California can talk to the mechanic over the phone at the dealership and say "What does the flywheel look like?" "oh ok.. not covered, they obviously raced" wihtout even being there to see it.

You can run your car at HIGH rpms, on the freeway, lets say a trip from las vegas to california, and have bluin because that **** get ****ing toasted and hot the entire time, especially in summer. and they would call that racing? no proof.

Modifying your car and then taking it in for warranty work after returning it to stock is straight up trickery.

Saying that the dealership is at fault because they sold you a car without fully inspecting it is pretty stupid. You're the buyer. You should inspect your own car. I don't expect the chef to taste-test my steak before it comes to my table....

I'm going through a dilerma right now. My clutch is jsut fine and will probably last me another 2 years but i'm just thinking ahead for now. Anyways assistant service manager test drives my car 6 months ago because I want to see if he can feel the vibration in the steering wheel. Anyways he takes off like a bat out of hell (not really abusive but suprised him doing it infront of the customer) and comes back and said I might need a clutch soon. I asked why and he said that the engagement point was very high and signs that it does not have much life left. Keep in mind that the clutch is perfectly fine and holds power all the way to redline and beyond. It's never slipped in it's life.

So him and I are talking about clutches and tell me to go aftermarket because the stock clutch is very weak. I asked if that would void the warranty and he said it won't as long as I don't go too heavy duty or racing but a mild upgrade would be ok. So it thought that would be great!

Now flash forward to a month ago when I get my oil changed. I talk to the actual service manager not the assistant and he tells me any aftermartket clutch will void the drivetrain warranty. So i'm like WTF???

Needless to say I will not be going to this dealer if I have to replace my clutch, they also want $1800 for parts and labor! I'll have to do a bit more researching first...

true that clutch is nasty and if my service manager wouldnt touch it till he put a claim threw. and we do the most tranny rebuilds around. only turned away one with a 35r. and i tried to tell the service manger it was just polished and it was a stock turbo but that didnt work he went and got one of the lot and matched it up. damn shame guy worked for mitsu for 6 years and cant tell a stock turbo from a aftermarket at first glance.

My car was stock when my 3rd gear tranny started grinding. and they tried to make me pay for it.
I have bought a few cars from that dealership in the past 3 years and I told them it was fine and I would pay the bill, but I would never buy a new car or refer them again.
Well, lets just say they changed their tone and fixed it under warranty.

( That dealer is also a mazda dealer and my friend blew up her Rx-8 BLEW THE ENGINE and they replaced it all for free, I thought that was BS. COnsidering her boyfriend was redlining the hell out of it with the oil level being low...)

Oh yea, but if you did not let the dealership change your clutch after you bought aftermarket, your warranty needs to be voided, You could have installed it improperly. They have no way of knowing....
So if you want something like a clutch put on, They warranty their service so that is the only way it is covered.

There's your first problem. I can imagine that car being thrashed for most of its life before you got your hands on it. I guess if I was buying a car like an Evo, I wouldn't trust the dealerships to not have wailed on the car before it was even broken in.
