Man, some dealers are such jackasses. I know a dealer who convinced some kid to pay 40k when they first came out. How they can sleep at night is beyond me.

This is/ was the same thing that happens/happened every time a hot new model comes out. I was told by my Subaru dealer that STIs would never be discounted. When I was ready to purchase before XMas, guess what, the same dealer would discount the car $1500. This was only a month or so after he said never.
This is the same thing that happened with the 03 Cobras and original Miatas, Z06s and S2000s and a bunch of other models I'm sure.
If you want to get the best deal, you have to be patient. When the cars need to be moved, discounts and incentives are added. If they can sell them all on the lot at sticker, you'll never get a discount.
If you think not getting the $1000 is bad. Imagine paying $36,000 for a car in April that I bought before December 15 for $28,500. Talk about depreciation!
