its just a local fix all shop located near me called Gonzales Care Care. They were recommended to me. its a shame they did this. My mechanic took some pictures and is going to bring him the bearings and shavings. hopefully they do have insurance like somebody said and just give me the money i need to fix this. but with my luck...

Sell the Evo. Random 1k$ events happen in an Evo's life... More than once. And I'm talking about the legit events, like clutches being burned, tire replacements and so on...

The shop you took it to was **** but still, your problem seems to be on the other side of the fence.

Damn, sorry to hear that. I'd talk to shop and see what they would want to do and if its not what you can do. go to court

Hmm... I think I missed it, was the vibration ever resolved? What did the incorrectly installed pully actually do to the engine? you will need another reputable mechanic (dealership is a great neutral party) to give a written statement about the problem. Bring this with pictures of the problem part with you to talk to the owner of the shop. Expect them to be on tge defensive, but try to explain you arent there to scam them.. You are just trying to correct a problem and allowing them the opportunity to make it rigjt before its escalated.

I'm lost how did bearings and metal shavings come into play. Seems like everyone you bring it to is trying to screw you more then the next guy.

What you/they need to do:

-Line everything on TDC
-Loosen tensioner pulley
-Take belt off oil pump sprocket
-Rotate oil pump sprocket 360 so that the oil pump/rear balance shaft is now in phase. Search on how to do this two easy ways
-Retime and tension
-Enjoy your car

My friend had the same problem with his wheel. They mechanic cross threaded the lugs and when he went down the road he broke it all ., he had another shop fix it sent them the bill and a court paper . Two days later they mailed him a check of the parts labor and 2 days loss of time.

I'll be fine just send them the right stuff the should pay out

The part I'm still lost on is that you have a mechanic friend that understands evos enough to know about the balance shaft issue but you took it to someplace that has no clue on how to work on your car...but you have a mechanic friend...but you took it somewhere else...
