insurance

progressive is the worst insurance company there is. Im in the auto collision field and progressive gives such cheap rates due to their repair process. Using used or aftermarket parts against customer demands. They are FAMOUS for attempting to repair panels/damage parts that should be replaced, even against customers and repair shop orders. its their special practice of ''saving money'' . thats why rates are so low.

Dump progressive.
I totally agree, I've had 20th century, mercury, allstate, and progressive and progressive is the worst! Apparently it's in the small writing that they can use non oem parts to fix your car. And when you try to switch to another insurance company they don't pro rate your premium and give you anything back. Worst insurance company evar..

They monitor everything, speed, braking, miles, ect...anything exceeded goes against you.

WOW!I did not know that! What company would you recommend that gives reasonable rates and be compliant with customers requests? Only reason I go with them is they offered me the better rate when I got quotes.

I've been with Progressive since I came to this country. They've been fine for me. My record at one point was so bad....no one would insure me. LOL. One more speeding ticket drops off and I can go to state farm.

Either way they've been decent on pricing and I have a buddy that owns a body shop I do all my collision work at and he makes sure I don't get screwed by ANY insurance company.

Progressive has been great for me too. They dont monitor speed just hard braking, time of day and how often you drive. All I can say to people worried about how they repair...you got screwed and thats your fault, we have choices for which shop to take it to, be smart. Also if you got to worry about wrecking just slow down or be more careful.

If you are worried about repairs or them paying claims get american family or state farm. I have american family and they pay whatever it costs to fix the car correctly. I wouldnt go with anyone else.

This is a terrible idea, PROGRESSIVE itself may not use this information against u but who is to say they aren't going to make this information availiable to outside sources to document your driving habits.. i mean technology is cool and all but its to the point now where not only will your ecu tell on you but your cell phone your laptop, and your gps can be used to get so much information.. i say protect yourself and say no.. if local govs catch wind of this, they will surely find a way to mail you tickets for speeding and breaking the law.. u can't fight it either bc its all gps and computers

I don't want anything in my car collecting information about driving habits, and my evo is a garage queen. Privacy is gone these days.

It really depends on your driving record. I heard wawanesa is cheap but they won't insure me with a dui from 2002 until it falls off my record.

Every insurance company is good until you have to use them for something. Progressive does a lot of commercials so you know they have to make that money back somehow.

I've been with progressive for 4 yrs. and no issues. They decrease my premium each yr...and when I moved over to them...not even GEICO could get close to what I'm paying.
With re: to the snapshot tool...if you dirve like a bat outta hell and slammin on brakes all the time then...I understand them not giving you a discount. Thats just logic! I'm all for an extra 30% off my insurance as is...I called about it last week. Only pay $826.00 every 6 mos.

I was in their top tier at one point. 4 vehicles, over 25, prior military, no record not any speeding tickets, great credit...the works. And yet every time renewal comes around magically the monthly rate was up $25+. I let it slide twice...but fool me 3 times, no sir. Nationwide is on my side, check out their features

It might work with a dummy ecu...& save some change.

I heard of this when I transitioned from their silver to gold status with Progressive. They'll be all over you when you get on boost. I would never do this.

I have American Family and only pay $65.20 a month full coverage. I doubt I could get it any lower than that.

As for a device that keeps an eye on me forget it. The government pries into our lives enough as is. You really cannot even trust your cell phones now either.

Sound too fishy too me to have something constantly plugged in and logging my driving habits. And for those we suspect you could unplug it sometimes, wouldn't this thing be logging mileage too??? So there would be a difference in mileage every time you don't plug it in for those common spirited drives. Also it is UP TO 30% discount and I would bet they would only give you a small portion of it because none of us know their criteria for this program.

I work at an insurance agency, and Progressive is one of the companies that we access. Snapshot is a relatively recent program. The interface from the agency end has us select from drop-down menus your approximate annual mileage, frequency of long-distance trips, frequency of hard acceleration or sudden deceleration, most common hours of operation, etc. Putting the information in first determines if you're eligible for the Snapshot program, and if you are, they monitor your driving habits over the next 30-45 days to determine how much of the 30% discount you are eligible for. They specify that your actual speed is not something that they are monitoring as much as your driving habits. I'll see if I can copy and paste what the agency guide says.

That being said, I usually put my Evo clients with different carriers since Progressive's rates aren't usually very competitive.
