Wrong. They cannot surcharge your rates by info received from snapshot.

The interface from the agency end has us select from drop-down menus your approximate annual mileage, frequency of long-distance trips, frequency of hard acceleration or sudden deceleration, most common hours of operation, etc. Putting the information in first determines if you're eligible for the Snapshot program, and if you are, they monitor your driving habits over the next 30-45 days to determine how much of the 30% discount you are eligible for. They specify that your actual speed is not something that they are monitoring as much as your driving habits. I'll see if I can copy and paste what the agency guide says.

That being said, I usually put my Evo clients with different carriers since Progressive's rates aren't usually very competitive.
Agent here as well, Thank you for posting factual information.

I think it would be pretty funny to plug this in and take it to a few track days and autocrosses.

I would NEVER have them do that on my evo. I got it to drive spirited.

On the other hand, I'd definitely do it for my truck.

Safeco seems to be blowing a lot of companies' rates out of the water these days, particularly in California. Plus you can get OEM coverage.

Did the increase happen randomly, or at renewal?
