Is this too much power?

I've got a stock turbo evo 8 with what appears to be an evo 9 dv. i just put a complete injen intake/intercooler pipe kit and the mods in my sig. i'm not sure what psi the tune was at since it was a road tune but i have noticed that on my aem boost gauge that i can hit 29 psi. is this too much for reliability? what should i upgrade to improve reliability? any and all feed back appreciated!

I do not see a FMIC. Why not get a 3.5?

I got the AMS 3.5 this year myself. We are very close in mods is why I mention it.

I still want to get a ported intake mani and ported exhaust mani, O2 housing, 9 turbo, and wideband. will be tuned on 93. No injectors for me planned at this time though, not looking for big HP just more than stock

This is my current mod list.

Greddy Ti-C 80mm TBE
Walbro 255
Injen intake w/UICP & LICP
AMS 3.5 FMIC
Evo 9 BOV
MBC 20 psi

29psi on a stock turbo is a lot of boost. Way to much for your mods in my opinion. I would re tune it on lower boost, you don't want to lift the head.

I have no problems with the piping at 20 psi. You are pushing a lot more than me so I can only speak for my set up.

The way mine is at the moment it runs very good. The idle could be a bit better, but I am still on stock tune for now (waiting to get the other stuff on before I take it in). However, once I am up and running I notice no problems at all.

the stocker isn't breathing well at 29 psi...I wouldn't swear by your boost gauge either...you should log the car to get an accurate boost reading

What he means is the stock turbo is not doing much but blowing hot air at that point. Also with the stock FMIC you are extremely prone to knock at that boost level, not to mention I never take a stock turbo pump car over 25-26psi. The stock turbo at 29psi really stops making hp due to increased heat but will begin to pick up a lot more tq per lbs of boost. I would only run 30psi on a stock turbo that was running E85 and a 4" core. I ran 31-32psi on my car when I had the stock turbo but I had all the mods in the book.

I run the AEM TruBoost and I love it. It is a controller as well as a gauge!

What's the most boost a 9 turbo will do safely on 93 octane? Looks like I have more to go?
