UPDATE: I did a boost leak test last night and I found that my Forge BOV was a little loose at the base (where you unscrew it to change the spring out), and this was causing a very small leak.

Also, just below the BOV where it goes into my Injen piping, I found 2 small pin holes in the factory welds! I don't know how this wouldn't have presented a problem before, but maybe the coupler was pushed down far enough to cover the tiny holes on the weld.

I threw a small piece of JB weld putty over the hole to see if it holds, but I will probably contact Injen to see if they will replace that one pipe, since it is very obvious that it was from it not being welded properly (looks to have burned through).

Let's see all you did was change the plugs and you're using a plug nobody has ever mentioned on this forum besides you and can't be found on the internet. You re-gaped an Iridium plug. Now your cars not running right? Try reading the post I gave you twice and using a plug from it. A few small pinholes aren't going to make your car run the way you describe. http://www.densoiridium.com/installationguide.php

Incorrect-- First rule of plugs, always gap them--nothing is pre- gapped. There are some simple gap tools to use, one is a round gapping disc that looks like it has little t's hanging off it. You use the t shapped part to regap without touching the electrode end coming out of the plug. You use the t to pull up or press down the " leg" of the plug.. So next time someone comes up with the pre-gapped, no gapping, can't gap arguement--you will be the hero grasshopper..

+1^^^ you can do, it but you have to do it right these new plugs are nothing like the old copper plugs. The center electrode is as thin as a hair.

Plugs are Denso ikh24. I typoed them before... my bad.
Anyway... I'm still having the problem... fixed the small boost leak and decided to compression test the car. Here is all info i can provide:

Plug gap: .022
Idle vac: 11-12 @ 900RPM
Compression: 167-169-170-170
No boost leaks...
Only thing I distinctively remember is a loud boom and cloud of black smoke the first time through issue occurred... almost like it loaded up with fuel and exploded a flame out the exhaust. Also, there is a new tick in the head, almost like a stuck lifter that I never noticed before (not to say it isn't possible that it could have been there before).

Getting frustrated here... still no CELs or anything to help diagnose either. Ordered a wideband.. should be in tomorrow or Friday.

Just stabbing in the dark here based on the info in this thread, but assuming that you have the torqued the plugs in correctly, did not cross-thread them, and reinstalled the COPs correctly, I do not think that your issue is necessarily the plugs (especially since you said that it was running great immediately after the install.

You might want to take a look at the turbo and make sure that something did not give way there....

by the way are you loosing oil?

Like I said before your running rich specially if you threw out a big as$ cloud of black smoke, do you have a wideband? If you dont get one soon and check your AFR's also contact your tuner see what he thinks. Im more than posotive its your tune bro my car did the exact same thing.

I pulled the intake off to do the boost leak test, and there was 0 shaft play in the turbo, and no oil leaking out of the compressor side. I'm not losing any oil either - stays nice and full. I am however hearing a weird tick on and off at idle though that I thought was a stuck lifter, but now I am beginning to think maybe I have a crack in one of the plug porcelains and maybe the spark is arching out?? Gonna see if I can get another set of plugs somewhere.

Had a wideband shipped to my house yesterday We'll see what happens. My buddy has all the Evo tuning software/datalogging stuff.

Got the wideband installed, and am very happy with the numbers I see. The car has a great tune in it. Problem was the spark plugs that I just put in it. ....turns out they were defective! Grrrr

Was iridums. I installed Denso IKH24's, and go figure - 1 of them must have been defective. Changed them out again, and car runs MINT again.
