is this a good idea? oem exhaust with cutout?

hey all,
After getting an exhaust ticket, and my wife disliking the tone (I think its kinda loud too LOL) I'm thinking of going back to catless stock exhaust. But what I want to do is install a butterfly vavle like the QTP one. I've never done this route before so I want to know any cons or pros about this set up before I buy a stock exhaust. Power wise, Im thinking it shoudl do similar to my current aftermarket exahust when the valve is opened since it will be where the tp is.
So, I would really appreciate if I could hear your inputs about this set up.
Thanks in advance,

If going back to stock exhaust, I would consider an o2 housing and 3in downpipe with the cutout on it and mated up to stock cat so it would sound the same as the full stock exhaust during cruising.

Another questions is that, IF i decide to go with a bigger turbo like fp red in the future, can i still keep the same set up with e-cutout? I'm trying to see if I want to sell my current exhaust or keep it just in case.

Hey sorry to here about the ticket, in NY they are tough with the exhaust db's but, they will only give you a ticket for $50 and your on your way. I am runing a ams Tbe w/testpipe, and an o2 dump, which the only opens up past 10psi, but i do have the silencer which does help quite the car down. check this out, http://youtu.be/TgbPtda4ViU

I run a QTP cutout and its pretty decent. Not sure how much power if any I'm losing from not having a full catback but my current setup is a Megan O2, QTP DP/Cutout, RRE Rallycat (looks like a cat, is a resonator) and stock catback. My wife loves the way I can keep the car quiet for rides with the kids. Living in NaziFornia you gotta always watch your back. Even if you drive like a grandma with any sort of non-stock exhuast you'll get popped. .

def do it you got all the performance you need with the dump open and the sound of a stock exhaust thats nice and quiet and you wont have to worry about tickets when closed whats better then that

I think that's a really good idea. I was thinking of putting back my stock CAT or full stock exhaust and install a QTP then get tuned with 02 housing and 3inch down pipe but wasn't sure if it was good to do or not.

Check out the B&B exhaust. This is what I have and it's pretty quiet and still flows good. Def the quiestest exhaust I've heard on an Evo when your just crusing around. It sounds good when you open it up.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't most of the exhaust still go out the stock piping, thereby offering little performance gain. It seems like a mod that is mostly for sound. I would love to be wrong though cause this, if it provided gains on par with a full cutback, would be perfect for me!
