Siezing drivetrain after sitting? Is this normal?

I wanted to see if something I've been experiencing is normal. After my car sits for over a week or so and I go to drive it, I have to break the car free to get out of the driveway.

For instance, this morning i got the car out since I'm purchasing a clutch today. When I go to pull out of the driveway I just let the clutch out to start rolling forward before giving it gas. The car didn't want to roll, it just sat there like it was going to die. I gave it some gas and let the clutch out all the way and it "broke" free. I heard a drivetrain popping sound as it broke free. Similar sound as the ABS engaging, that grinding drivetrain sound. Although it was a single pop as the tires broke free.

Car drives normal and has no other issues besides a slipping stock clutch at peak boost.

Is it the brakes getting a little rusty or something? This is my first AWD car and I've never had anything like this with my Mustangs. It only happens if it's sat for over a week without being moved. It takes very little force to break it free, just more force than the car provides without giving it gas.

I don't even know if it's a problem or just normal. Let me know please

(EDIT: the car was sitting outside, and it has been really rainy lately. Garage is full with another project )

You have sticky brakes. Check your calipers. Trying flushing the brake fluid out on all four wheels. The fluid maybe old.

^^^^ WHAT THIS GUY SAID.... lol bleed your breaks, when if u have old pads the fluid in the res. will surely lower. If this happens and you get air in the lines then the only way to get it out, is to bleed the brakes.. seems like you have sticky calipers due to air in the lines

I believe what you are experiencing is called flash rust. It happens on most cars that sit outside every single night. It just doesn't get as bad until you leave it sit for a couple days/week and then the pads have to wear a small layer of rust off.

Check your E-Brake cable, they will stick after awhile.

Thanks for the help. I do believe it's rust on the rotor. I was making sure it wasn't a t-case or differential issue first.

It rusts really bad on this car, worse than my Cobra with similar sized rotors. A few hard stops cleaned the rotors back off.

Brake fluid looks good, when bleeding the clutch I checked fluids. I tried adjusting the pedal and bleeding the clutch before finally blaming the disc for slipping.
