OIL pressure drops at higher rpm
OIL pressure drops at higher rpm
running 20/50 in a 2.3 stroker
fully warm
at idle i'm about 30 psi or so
cruising i'm at 75psi about 3k rpm
but when i punch it and get into the boost and go up in the top of the rpms 6k or so
I noticed my oil pressure actually went down to about 60psi
is this normal and what would cause it to actually drop I'm not sure if i was to slowly put the pedal down and just rev it up , I checked it when i was in motion so i wonder i the thrust is affecting it some how i appreciate all the help

it's not normal.
it should remain constant.
is it oil surge? what is your oil level? what gear did it happen in? does it happen in other gears?
My car (2.3 mivec) makes 80psi @ 3000rpm and maintains that all the way through the rev range

my oil level is all the way to the high side from high to low , here is a video i just took of whats going on , I was going up hill starting in 2nd gear u can see it holds about 75psi until i get to about 6k or so then it drops to like 60 , I'm thinking I might have just barly too much because its hard to find a 100% level place around here to check it so it might be just a hair over the top hash mark, if the crank is splashing the oil causing air to get into it i'm curious if that might be whats going on so tomorrow morning i'll drain a little and re test, if that was the case I hope i didnt do any damage by having it slightly too full

From the looks of that video it might be that there is air in the lines to make the needle dance like that. I wouldnt know for sure just looking though. But that doesnt explain why at lower rpms it doesnt drop like that.
well its def not the oil level causing it it wasnt even over full , and i took some out to make it exactly in the middle from high to low , so i'm thinking could be the sending unit
