quarter Master Or Tilton
quarter Master Or Tilton
Hello EveryBody Im Looking For a Daily Driving twin Disk Clutch That Would last me Long im Thinking On THe quatermaster or tilton with one is Stronger and would last long ? any help out there
What kind of power is the clutch needing to hold? The Tilton and QM are more of a race clutch while the Exedy's are way more street friendly, be it the twin or the tripple.
Neither of those are going to be a good daily driver clutch. The Tilton will NOT last long at all. The old style QM would only last about 10k miles, but the new design was suppose to be improved. I highly recommend a Exedy HD Twin over both those clutches for a daily driver unless you're making over 600whp.
I daily drive on my QM the 6post version not the new design. My brother has an Exedy on his STI with the sprung hub. Both of our cars are about ~350whp/wtq.
Exedy - Still makes twin plate noise, agressive engagement, drives very well in stop in go traffic. My brother has only stalled his a few times, clutch drives really nice.
QM - Twinplate noise, decel noise, agressive engagement, softer than stock pedal feel, ok to drive in traffic as long as you are used to it. You will get lots of clunking from rear end if you do not have new bushings back there. Overall I love my QM, I had one in my 700hp galant before this, so I am very used to the engagement.
You will get more noise from both of these clutches, and if you are trying to keep your car nice and quite it might not be a good solution. The other think you will have to get used to is the rattle when the clutch is depressed, I get lots of looks a stop lights. Then there is the loud sqeeking noise while taking off from a stop when slipping the clutch a little.
The new QM clutch is supposed to be much better than the version I have, and they are supposed to be coming out with a street version. Anyway you cut it you will love you twinplate if you can deal with all the crazy noise and new vibrations and stuff

I would say get the quarter master v2. I had a tilton blow up in one of my cars and they basically told me good luck. I sent the thing into them and they inspected it the clutch was bot engaging on the main shaft like it should it stripped the hub on the clutch. I told them they should be responsible for the repair since they told me it was their design that was flawed with the clutch for that model car. Needless to say I didn't get my clutch back from th either. Tilton has the worst clutches and customer service unless your a v8 guy.
Well that changes things LOL! In that case, I'd say go with the new Quartermaster race twin disc. It will hold all the power you throw at it and will most likely last longer than the Tilton.
Thats what all the shops in town are telling me to go with but a second opinion is never bad lol thanks I will go with the new quater master
Re-title this thread Volkswagen or Porsche plz.
Tiltion is pretty much the worldwide standard for racing hydraulic systems whether it be clutches, master cylinders, or pedal assemblies. Quartermaster is, well, not that.
