Buying an Evo with 90k Miles
I got my 03 for 11,000. It had rust but mechanically speaking it was alright. That being said, I basically drove it home and took the entire car apart lol. If this is going to be your daily, I'd suggest you look elsewhere.
I'm around that same opint in my car and here is some of the maintenance I've recently done and needs done in the future:
1) Wheel bearings - got very loud listen close to those
2) Suspension - stock shocks are done, time for a set of coilovers
3) Brakes - just did all new rotors, pads, and lines
Like others have said like for noises related to suspension issues or xfer case/wheel bearings howling. Checked for fluid leaks and things like that. If it was well taken care of no reason why it can't be running great and go forever, but there is always two sides to the coin.

The car is still worth $12-13K with that kind of mileage on it.
Buying an Evo with that many miles falls under the same rules that buying other cars with that mileage does.
-Has it been crashed? if yes, how bad? and how long ago? Was it repaired right?
-Body Condition (Rust, dings, dents, crack/peeling clear coat) A lot of the older Evo's only used a single stage paint/clear so if it's not taken care of it'll turn chalky
-Title/Vin Issues?
-MAJOR mechanical defects (Rod knock, trans grind, popping out of gear, Xfer case/Rear whine, etc...)
-Maintenance records (Mainly Timing Belt/Water pump and fluid changes at that kind of mileage)
-Then check the smaller stuff:
What condition are the brakes/tires in?
Any clunks in the suspension (Ball joint/Control arm related)
Interior condition (Rips/tears in the seats, etc...)
Basically, after it all boils down, you have to ask yourself "If a situation comes up in my life that I have to turn around and sell this car tomorrow, am I buying it for cheap enough that I can at least break even?"
Hope this helps...

There was a guy who had a IX with 175000+ miles on it and sold it for like $16500, IMO $10k is a steal for an evo with 90000miles. Mileage doesn't really matter as mentioned a zillion times on this forum, someone can have an EVO with 10000miles who beat the hell out of it/never did any maintenance and another guy can have an EVO with 100000 miles and babied it/did regular maintenance. You just have to check records and get the car inspected.
Man some of you guys think way too much because your evo experts lmao I'd take the chance and buy it right now, I wouldn't care if the motor was done. Like I said no whine from the tranny, I'd buy because a built motor is a way to get a fresh start and you know exactly whats done to the motor. I mean when do you see evo's for 10k...never ever and people on the site have brought evo's for 13k-20k and the motor blow in a week!
BOUGHT my 03 w/ 115k for 10k in a heart beat from texas paid deposit and drove down that weekend before someone else bought it...
since then i beat the crap out of it on the stock motor went E85 fp red SD and it loved it!! i have since put a 2.4l lr in it and a bigger turbo be ready to be addicted!!!!
(old motor when pulled out running w/ 116k and had te fp red and been ran hard i could still see cross hatches and very minimal wear)

Alright, Bought the Evo, Has some things I need to fix up. I am now an EVO OWNER! (I should change my user name >.< ) Anyways, there were only slight mods on the car, the only problem I am running into, is the guy decided to paint the Dash pieces Ugly STI Blue (Painted the mirror buttons, AC, heat control, basically the whole shabang.) I will post pics shortly!

congrats on the purchase
cheap evo
Do a carfax on it. It will ease your mind a little. Thats what i did and got my 03 with 70k for 15,500. Would be nice if you could take someone who new about perfomance cars, they could give you some sort of imput. When i tested mine, i knew right away as soon as i pushed the clutch(aftermarket) and hit the gas..It was tuned..lol well anyways gl and hope u are happy with whatever u get. There is just alot of stuff to consider in buying turbo cars. Just depends how picky you are.
