Selling an Evo... Do you agree?
Well there is no way I'm going to do a back to stock because I dont want the hassle of pulling stuff off and putting stock back in.
The motor is fully built by AWD and I have full documentation of everything even every single oil change that has been done. Pulling the motor is completely out of the question as well.
If the time comes to ditch it I guess I will just ask for 1/2 the cost of the mods which I think is fair being that there is thousands in labor and tuning expenses to get it to this level.

If it's professionally built with quality parts I think it's right to ask for a little extra on top, whoever buys the car is still getting a bargain and they don't have to wait for build or installation, it's ready to go! If I had the money, that's the way I would rather go if I couldn't find a stock or very lightly modded car. That's just me....
Good Luck!

The problem with a full build is there are dishonest sellers and the amount of people that have been burnt by someone saying there is nothing wrong with their car versus honest sellers selling something quality aren't in your favor.
Besides buying a heavily modded vehicle if you aren't familiar with it is asking for trouble (from a buyers perspective).
To give you another angle:
When I was in the market for a Evo 2 years ago I was willing to trade my motorcycle and 20k cash to the previous owner of my car. The car at the time had a AMS 2.3 motor and a big turbo setup, HKS coilovers.......everything was done except for the wheels. When I contacted the potential seller he had already traded someone the motor for their stock SE motor plus cash and swapped out the suspension with stock suspension. He liked my idea of bike and cash so we made the deal for 15k plus my bike.
I bought the car in pieces and he couldn't get it to start, wasn't sure why. After waiting for a while (I had him send the tcase out to Shep and the transmission and he quit his job with the local speed shop) I decided to flatbad the car home to figure it out. he wasn't sure what the problem was. I asked for help on a local forum and one of the guys came over to my house to help me figure out what the problem was.
Turns out it was just the immobilizer. Now the good Samaritan and I were talking and it turns out HE was the one that swapped motors with the seller of my car. He told me that he decided to swap his cams into the head of the motor that came out of the car I bought and discovered damage to the head, then he decided to fully disassemble the motor and found the whole thing needed to be rebuilt. The seller was not trying to be dishonest...he just had no clue. He ended up refunding the the good Samaritan 1300 and ended up kinda screwing himself on the deal to make it right. Commendable but still........
Long story short it doesn't matter who the car was built by and who has maintained it. A potential buyer, especially one coming from a different automotive world where Buchur, AWD, STM, IveyTune, English Racing, etc hold absolutely no weight is not a selling point.
I get it. I wouldn't want to go through all the hassle of putting my car back to stock if it took a long time and a lot of money to get the car to where it is now, but thats your problem, one that most potential buyers would rather avoid.
The other thing I've noticed is the used market is really famine right now. No one is buying anything for what it used to sell for. It seems like the bottom has fallen out and things are being sold for crackhead prices. You may have been able to sell it for the value plus 50% of the cost of you parts 2 years ago but now even if BB is over 20k on your car I'd be surprised if you could sell it for that much. It sucks but it seems that's were things have gotten to these days.
Good luck man. I think you will seriously need to entertain parting the car out and putting it back to stock, but hey you could get lucky. I hope you do.

I had to make the same sort of decision when I got rid of my VIII, though it didn't have a built motor.. it did have a FP green, full exhaust, Shep stgII transfer case, cusco twin disk clutch, HKS cams, etc etc... in the end it got traded in with the twin disk clutch, shep transfer case, and HKS cams.

Not trying to be rude or anything, I'm sure the car is worth what you want to ask in your opinion, it's just gonna be tough to find a buyer for it in as is condition.

Forgot about this. Most people don't have cash to buy a car straight up. If they are financing then your pool of potential buyers is going to be that much smaller.

I have been VERY successful with finding that "right" buyer who shells out the cash over KBB for every car I have ever owned and fortunately I'm not in a position where I have to actually sell it, just playing with the idea more or less.
But in the event I decide to it wont be in a rush and I will sit on it until the right one comes along.
if the mods are all top notch and quality i can see someone spending more for a car with those extras on it, but keep in mind alotta people will try lowballing you saying the mods dont mean jack. like someone else above me a few posts stated it all depends on the buying party. either they do want or they dont.
+1
Sounds like you had your mind made up before you posted. Did you post just to see if we were going to tell you that you were doing the right thing?
Sell it as is and call it a day.
