What warranty work are looking to get done? Sounds like a bit of a hassle to get and swap ecus just to have a dealer do the work.

You must have the same immobilizer code in the new ecu like with the old one. The only way to do that would be to flash the new ecu which is not what you wanted to do.

Who is "they"?

The dealer?

Hard to believe a dealer would honor any warranty work knowing you are modified.

If you must know I work for a bank which owns this particular dealership so yes to the normal person they would not do this but for me they will....so what do I gotta do??

What this guy said, you need to reflash the ecu to a stock file... you just need your immobilizer code for it to work... no big deal.

Is the rest of your car stock? I mean the ECU is not something I would think they would check right away... other mechanical mods are much easier to spot.

If your in good relations with the dealer, it probably doesn't matter either way...

In my experience, I have had my car tuned etc... and reflashed back to stock when I took it to the dealer

i was told not matter what once you flash the ecu you cannot reflash it back... straight from the evo tech's mouth and he is good homies with a homie of mine....once they hook their computer up to my car they see immediately that its been flashed.....to get warranty work done they need to call a specialist from up north to come and inspect it....and if there is anything on the car thats not stock he will mark it in the system as un warranty-able...so thats my drama

If you reflash the ecu back to stock you can. Deleaerships were flashing ecu's to fix a service bulletin. They may see that it's flashed but they can't say it was for performance gains. I would flash my original map back on the current ecu that starts your car and then flash it back. Hopefully you don't have so many changes that something goes wrong on the car when you do this.

good luck getting the mitsu rep to get on board with this repair...

anyway, your question has been answered earlier. you need to get the immobilizer code from the old ecu and put it in the new ecu.... or you can just disable the immobilizer. both of which will require you to flash the ecu

Your question was answered, but you said the tech said it couldn't be flashed back.... which is not true, it CAN be flashed back, I've done it personally... does it has a flash counter? I don't know, can they tell its been flashed? I don't know... I've never seen any real data proving they can do it.....

The Rep's job is to judge if it is warrentable or not, he/she is not a tech.... and even if the rep denies you can still claim and deal with Mits. N.America by calling them... Is that enough info for you
