The growing of corn has more effects than just E85 users. When the subsidies were first getting handed out, hop farmers were switching to growing corn. That lead to a price increase for micro brew beers since they use more hops than the big guys. The big brewers were not affected because they bought contracts locking them into certain prices. The price increase did not end up being as bad as they initially thought, but its something you wouldn't associate with growing corn. I know this because i'm in the beer business

Yes, and manage a liquor store. I also grow my own hops. Maybe i should start growing corn
