If you plan on leaving it stock and just driving it get the WRX. If you plan on modding or racing with it at all, get the Evo.

How about this, if you want one of the most well-rounded, fun cars to have been made in the past decade, buy the Evo, regardless of whether or not you want to mod or race.

Bought my IX in November of last year. Daily driver even though I have a 4x4 truck too, and I couldn't be happier.

I came from a Cobra that basically looked like a nice car, and sounded like a nice car, while performing well only in perfect conditions (dry hot road).

Now I have a car that makes more power, gets better mileage, has a better turning radius, has infinitely more traction, performs well in *all* conditions, and basically looks and sounds like crap.

But I'm 100% happier. No more head turns every 2 seconds like I had with the Cobra, no more driving the brand of car our whole country seems to be rallying behind now. Now I'm the enemy it seems, even without the wing, no matter where I go. It seems that right choice, is not always popular, and the popular choice, can't even go over a bump without tossing the solid rear into a fit.....

Think about what you want, screw everyone else and their opinions. Get the Evo and *know* you have the better car, even if it's not understood by dumb Americans. I seem to have witnessed this first hand going from a Cobra to an Evo. My oh my the hate....

I'd take the WRX too over the 9 for a daily driver.....
Broken down it just makes more sense to me....

I do like performance even fom my dailies, but what is the extra performance worth in value for its needs?

I would get a IX. Maintenance is expensive, but you get out of it what you put in.

The 2011 WRX Sedan looks great in person, and insurance is definitely going to be cheaper.

Apples and oranges really.

If you plan to mod it at all, especially go over 300whp dont even consider anything in the Subaru family but an sti, even at that the motors pop constantly.

If I were to seriously think about another car besides my IX, I'd go with an A4 1.8T AWD before a WRX. More comfort, surprisingly decent handling with the SLA front end, and 300whp isn't outrageous but you're a fool to go much further modding that car due to costs. I view it as a less serious car that still has some fun inside and a decent interior. I've considered trading my truck in for one.

Still I chose an IX over just about anything I could afford at the time. No regrets.

fixed

300whp is downpipe & tune territory for the 09+.

I've been around subaru since the wrx first came here. I'm not sure if it's ken blocks doing or the new design but for some reason, everyone and their mother has to have a 2011 wrx.

Still looks like a bloated camry imo. *shrug* Evo IX all the way.

IX- No brainer.

I love my VIII more everyday. The WRX on the other hand doesn't have that brown pants factor you'll get from an EVO.

I keep reading these threads about WRX vs EVO as a DD and its sad!! Who here needs to be told what car they should drive! O Really!! You don't have to justify wanting to drive the "wife's" car if that's what you want! Have had my EVO IX RS for 5yrs and have hands down had more fun in that rocket than any other car I've owned!!!!
