why is there alot of hating on evos in the USA? i dont understand? here in the UK, an evo is a rare sight and are legendary cars, everyone loves an evo in the UK and i mean nearly everyone, nobody has a bad thing to say about them.

From watching some of videos on youtube which are from USA up-loaders (which most are) , there are lots of negative comments, tbh the views on these cars are completely different across the pond from over here.

all i hear is from the US is "no replacement for displacement" and ''v8 this and v8 that'', and ''ricer this and ricer that'', wtf is ricer? lol

 

Don't know why people hate? For the money, VIII, IX and X are all incredible cars. Those are the only ones I've driven... I'm sure the previous generations were great as well.

well, theres seem to be alot more hating over in the states, maybe because we dont have lots of big engined cars over here, and they dont get compared to say an ls3

 

we hate our headlights and taillights so we buy yours.

 

and we don't have digital climate control! and our cars werent avail with active yaw or nav!

 

As Americans we have been spoiled when it comes to cars. It's more of a right than a privilege and cars are relatively cheap to own. So when people see the price of an Evo they expect alot more for the money. If we had all the electronics jdm models had the price would be much higher. Just look at the price of an x mr.

 

What people are those?

 

ALLL Evos are great fun to drive,I've driven or ridden in Evos 1-8 and they are awesome for what they are.

 

A lot of people here in the U.S. love the Evo and really respect it. Obviously not everyone is going to feel that way, but don't be fooled by anonymous posters of YouTube videos. Someone is always going to say something negative, especially considering the anonymity that the internet grants to people who want to be offensive with their opinions. Besides, it's not like other cars don't get their share of hatred.

I live in Southern California, where there are lovers of every type of car here. I get a lot of compliments on my car from a lot of different people. I work in insurance, and a client of mine has a Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG (which is a far more bad *** car), but he had a lot of good things to say about my car. Even a guy who was a client of my girlfriend's (back when she worked retail) took me for a spin in his Ferrari F430 16M Scuderia, but was still complimenting my car.

By "we," you obviously mean Evo VIII owners in particular

It's a tradeoff, considering how our Evos are less expensive compared to Evos in other countries. Would you have been willing to pay several thousand more dollars to have that stuff? It would be nice to have a few more creature comforts and S-AYC, but I'm perfectly fine with how it put together and wouldn't really have been eager to have paid more money for it for those things. Besides, the Evo already handles VERY sharp for any car (not just in the AWD realm), and you can't really miss something that you were never offered. But keep in mind that the S-AYC hardware cuts down on space and resulted in an even smaller fuel tank than what we have, if I remember correctly.

 

we Americans are 65% fat lazy asses and 80% douche bags(guys). that's why.!!
im glad to say i am nether. instead of being envious and appreciative of a nice car they would rather make themselves feel better by shunning it.

 

It's still one of the things that makes me want to punch babies, when I read comments on YouTube videos like:

"Yo dat EVO is whack. My Del Sol with a Prelud moder swap will smoke dat car. ZOOOOOOM!"

or

"My GTO is going to be so much faster than your Evo once I put headers, intake, straight pipes, new gears, a cam, and nitrous on it. Oh, and I'm going to fully build the motor with forged internals and I'm gonna run slicks. You won't want to mess with me."

The internet has certainly invented a new breed of tough guy.
