1/4 import guys. guys who think their honda is the most mad tyte JDM thing in the world. or the guys who saw gymkhana and suddenly the STI is the best thing ever so naturally the evo would have to suck and ken block is a driving god LOL
1/4 Euro car guys ie: BMW, Merc, and Audi guys who are above our cars
1/8 Real car guys who know what it is and what it can do.
1/8 Hippies that dont drive

 

In Europe the EVO won fame through the rally racing circuit which is a respected form of motor sports in Europe. Here we have NASCAR and the "The Fast and the Curious". So, the EVO is associated by the masses as young punks with ricers even though it is a world class car used by the greatest drivers in the world.

 

You pretty much hit the nail on the head with that one. Depending on where you live the ratios change, but that pretty much outlines most car enthusiasts in North America.

 

Most of the people on that list sound like fanboys, not enthusiasts.

Anyway, this thread is stupid. People don't hate the Evo. Youtube comments do not prove otherwise.

 

No disrespect, but the Evo has more respect from Canadians because Canada obviously isn't an automotive powerhouse. Contrasting to that, the U.S. is heavily involved in the automotive industry, and there are going to be some people who are ethnocentric with their vehicle selection, whether the car is good or bad, and some will be quick to prefer American cars (or even verbally dismiss foreign cars), especially when compared to something of a different formula, such as the Evo (AWD sedan with 2.0-liter turbo), though sometimes vehicles following the American formula but with the engineering of their maker (i.e. Toyota trucks or Mercedes AMG cars, especially with the 6.2-liter V-8) will get the nod.

 

That's what makes it accurate. Did you miss the: 1/8 Real car guys who know what it is and what it can do.?

When people talk crap in the US..its usually those who wish they had an evo or those who have fast car and underestimate the Evo..So the solution??? Race!! And normally Evos are at the finish line hittin that 2 step...
