Whats with the FP Black??
Im not worried about blowing a motor right now. Nor will I be with the black. As long as my tune is spot on and I keep my tq under 400, I feel very safe. I didnt want this thread to be about me throwing me rods lol. I just asked if there was something I am missing, as to why there are so many black listed for sale.
What has happened to the confidence in the good ole 4g63?? lol

I was also curious
. Maybe people are just stepping up to a larger turbo setup
Most of the people I've seen selling their FP Black are not happy with the lag on stock motor/pump gas. The peak numbers are good, but the area under the curve with pump gas is meh imo. I personally think its too large of a turbo for stock block / 93 octane. Miles of lag, then peaky top end... no thanks. The guys that swear by the FP Black tend to have built motors and/or run E85.
I loved my Fp Black when i was running it last season. I even loved the Red. The red got me to 10.50s on 100 octane on full weight. When i did the build i figured i would upgrade to the black. I have seen more Blacks for sale not that you mentioned it, but i honestly just think people want to upgrade and go bigger.
You will like the black alot, def will get more top end! If you ever want a Red if u change ur mind somehow. I have a buddy who will be interested in selling his low mile Fp Red with ported/coated exhaust mani!

I put a black on 2 weeks ago, and was tuned yesterday. I didn't get on it until I was tuned, but I can tell you that I am completely happy with the black. It pulls really hard in the upper rpm's, unlike the stock IX turbo that falls on its face up top. I am on a stock motor, and stock head with stock cams too. I made 410whp at 26psi with a pretty conservative tune, so I feel it was a worth while upgrade. I plan on going with a LR2.4l when my stock motor goes, thats why I went straight to the black, otherwise I would have bought a green. The lag isn't bad at all with the stock motor, so with a 2.4 it will be like a stock turbo on a 2.0 practically.
Could be MAP's new line up of turbos maybe? I know we have a couple guys around my area that are selling there FP set-ups to try the new EF3 and EF4 turbos. They are suppose to be pretty baddass!
I wont mind a little bit of lag. I loved driving my old 1g with a fp3065, this was on a 2.0 as well. I dont mind the lag, as long as it makes up for it in the top end!
I have s2 cams as well as ported intake and exhaust mani, this should help the black breath a little more on the 2.0, I would think.

2.4 fp black for drag racing. Fp red or maybe the ef-2 ef -3 from map for street manners as well as decent power up top. I would ( am personally actually ) wait on the map results to start showing up. They also have dbb in the works it sounds like. Might not be for a while but might be worth the wait. If not then you still have your funds as well as working turbo
