Im on a 2.3l with an fp black making 513ft/lbs of torque. Its an amazing turbo (coming from the old school green) and the lag on it is minimal compared to the gains in the top end. If your already running E85 you will love the black

Wait the OP is worried about hitting 400 tq on the FP Black? I already hit that on the stock turbo with my meth lol. No issues here. </shrug>

IM not worried about hitting that tq number. I know I can make that tq. My theory is I want a turbo that pulls hard, yet is safe for the stock lower end. From everything I have read on evom, it seems as long as you keep the tq under 400ft lbs, the stock block is fine. This is my goal, I want to stay under the 400 mark just for the sake of the stock shortblock for now.

I can make more power, on pump gas, with less boost with a black. According to some of the dyno results I have been reading, as opposed to the hta green I have now. The hta green is a little torque monster. If I go for more power, the tq is gonna rise as well, which is getting me pas the limit I am comfortable with.

I have already spoke to Devin. He says the black is a great choice! I like the green, dont get me wrong. I am just looking for a little more pull up top. While I get more pull in the upper rpm range, the torque will come on less aggressive as well with a black, making it a little easier on the motor too.

My original post is clearly asking, why the blacks are coming up for sale so much in the classifieds. Thats all. I just heard so many great things about the black, then it seemed once I was ready to get one, they were popping up left and right ion the forums for sale. Just had me wondering.

I just took advantage of one of those for sale adds. I just picked up a new black with install kit and everything for a really good price. I have some FIC 950s, ebay fmic, gsc s2 cams /w springs and retainers, exhaust, and that's about it. Stock motor, I'm not worried about it, these motors hold up to years and years of idiots beating the crap out of them, use your head and you'll be fine.

Good Luck!

They pop up for the exact reason why you want one. People buy the turbo, realize it makes too much tq at the boost levels required to make power and they sell it. That or they overbuild their block and now its good for 700wtq so they want a bigger turbo.

Anyhoo go for it man let us know how it works out. Also keep in mind that blacks don't really shine until around 27+ lbs of boost and that's going to yield you more than 400wtq. When I say shine I mean hitting 500whp+

Nice! I have pretty much decided to get one. I just am waiting to hear back from Devin right now, to see if he can work me in for a tune before the shootout. I got a 60k service to do, then install the black.

This is the dyno results that have convinced me! 27psi, under 400 tq, almost 500whp.
