I got another letter in the mail from the local dealer asking to bring my car in for a trade because the value went up from the last time they checked.

I think these guys ask anyone with an increasing value to come in. I drove nearly 12,000 miles since the last time I checked and the KBB value barely moved. I love this car!

Price is pretty high.

My friend is selling his 06 IX for that price in excellent condition with very tasteful mods, but OBO.

Well I have owned, a 2004 STI that made around 350 and 380 to the wheels. I beat the heck out of that car and it consistantly ran 3.5 0-60 times. I had a G2 speed meter and i had more than 100 launches from around 5k and not once did anything break on the car. this was all on a stock clutch too. The car was a hoot to drive it would hang the *** end out in real tight corners if you came in fast enough and snapped the parking brake. Very reliable car and alot more fun than a Evo on the street. I have also owned a BBY 2003 Evo that made 373 and 350 TQ its was an awesome car you could go alot faster in it but it felt slower. I had ran both cars at mid-ohio and the Evo was around 3 seconds faster than the STI. But the Sti was always more enjoyable to drive. But if you are going to be looking at over 400WHp there is no other way to go than an EVO.

As for the price on that Evo. Its way too high for the mileage. If and when i shop here real soon for an EVO IX RS. I will be looking for a low mileage car in exceptional condition. The car in your post is truly worth no more than 17k if it is immaculate.

congrats on the buy. i too just switched from a subaru to an evo. check the maintenance schedule on here, lot of great info. i bought mine with 65k on the odo and had to spend over $600 on parts for '60k' maintenance that was never done.

yea continue to search for a better price, thats a tad steep for a 05 evo 8 with 69 thousand miles. but if you do want an 8 definetly stick with the 2005 model considering it has ACD and the 10.5 hotside.

lol yea its WW, GSR and i have looked over everything, drove it a bit spirited and everything seems to check out. It has been lower on some springs I have never heard of. It's like RE(forget the rest) engineering. anyone know if there good? it rides nice. also has front and rear slotted rotors and hks turbo timer. brembo's aren't fading, engines completly stock and the stock air box doesnt move hardly at all so im pretty sure its been stock all its life.......give me a month and will see lol

RRE = Road Race Engineering if that's what you're talking about. They sell Eibach pro kit springs. Congrats on the switch!

thanks, and it looks like it is from a shop or company that was put on after manufacturing. I just bought a AP and probly getting tbe here soon then who knows. I'm keeping stock turbo for a good while and just do u&licp, intake,ic, cams, and maybe intake mani or exhaust mani. I'm really not looking to go past 400 anytime soon. a good solid 360-370 will treat me just fine

I would cancel this, if you still can. The Evo scene not only has it easier tuning hardware wise but also software/ECU. Someone hit 1k hp on stock ECU somewhere - you can probably find it in a search. With that said, back out of the AP if it's not too late and pick yourself up a $300 notebook (if you don't have one) and a Tactrix cable. You can find them here, http://www.tactrix.com/ or buy one used. This is a cheaper, more effective way to tune your Evo.

After doing that, download ECUflash and EvoScan on your laptop. Then I would load the EU/TephraMod base map. It'll turn your CEL into a built-in knock sensor light (that flashes upon knock) as well as other things. Basic tuning is very easy as well, just do some research in the tuning section of the forums. Lots of help over there.

As for hitting your power goals, shouldn't be too hard but remember, keep it simple! Too many people go all out for something like 700whp and regret (some people are crazy and love it, mind you). Go with TBE (make sure you get DP that's for 05-06 because of ACD fitment), HKS Reloaded Intake (pricey but worth it), IC piping, MBC (halman is a great one), 255 fuel pump (better safe than sorry), 720-1050 CC injectors and a solid tune should put you in the 350whp-400whp with great drivability and reliability. I wouldn't bother with cams for those numbers - MIVEC will do just fine with those mods. Don't bother with intake/exhaust manifolds either, the stock parts work great at those numbers. If anything, get them ported at a good shop, reliable shop but I wouldn't even bother with that. O2 housing is an easy cheap mod, but I wouldn't bother if your going to stick with the keeping it simple mindset. It won't make a huge difference with those mods.
