Full oil change?

Is it just me or has anyone else been bothered by the fact that when you change the oil in the Evo its leaves almost a quart of dirty oil behind to mix with the new oil?

If you change it often then the oil shouldnt be so broken down to where it would be an issue. When you change your oil, you are NEVER gonna get all the oil out completely. You would have to drain the cooler, drop the pan, clean and let it sit overnight, for every oil service.

I've noticed that if the engine is hot the oil cooler drains too. I suppose this is because the oil thermostat is open.

I've never heard of an oil thermostat.

I always change oil in the morning before I drive anywhere. Start the car for about a min then drain it.

Leave it for a few hours and lower the oil pan side.

You can get oil thinner additives which help you to get more of the oil out. I used to use them in my old lancer but I haven't used them in my evo as I'm not sure good or bad they are for the engine. I'd rather have a bit of leftover oil than a little oil and additive left in my engine.

Neither of the above two questions have anything to do with OP's question. He runs Amsoil at regular intervals, but again, unrelated.

who cares you are using AMSOIL oils that have 11 + TBN in them and i am sure there is a good amount of aditives left when you are draining.

as long as you use a good filter and good Group 4 oil you will be fine.

warm up the engine before you drain it. Cleans out more of the gunk in there.
