^ jetta is no replacment for a Evo, you will find this out the 1st time you try and throw it into a turn. My wife drives a new A4 it is very comfortable and "sporty". I like it on the highway and in traffic and thats about it. I was driving it quickly through some of our back roads and tossed it into a turn like I would my evo and almost sent her car through a few mailboxes out by the road.

If you do part out your car let me know, I may be interested in some parts.
The evo is a fun car. Its not the best dd car. Stock or modded, the evo is a blast on the track though. That is the main reason I bought my evo. The only reason really, I wanted to get back into racing and wanted a new project car. My personal opinion if you want a good,RELIABLE dd, stay away from the European cars.

I don't expect the Jetta to remotely be as much fun as my Evo or any Mustang I've had. I expect to have a big grin on my face the first time I go two full weeks without touching a gas station on 14 gallons of diesel. I mostly want at least V6 level torque from low rpm and a manual transmission so I can row the gears. I'm looking forward to my first ever car with heated seats and plan to mod it for comfort with a nice sound system and car computer.

The more I think about it, the final drive is what has been bugging me subconsciously. I'm growing tired of the short gears and I hate the inconsistent clutch feel compared to my non-hydraulic Cobra.

Perhaps I should look at an X or Ralliart.... I don't remember it being that much more comfy, but after living with the IX for awhile, I think I should test drive one again. This must be a part of growing up..... I drove gutted interior tin-cans with no AC for years and years with a solid rear end. I'm not sure what's gotten into me either.

I have an Evo 8 with 89k miles on it. It use to be my daily driver, but for the past couple of months she has been sitting in a garage. I bought an 98 Mirage with hopes of one day turning her into an Evo. The mirage gets great gas mileage but is lame to drive. I drive 100 miles round trip to work everyday so i want to keep the miles off of the Evo. I was contemplating selling her, then i drove her to work last weekend, all thoughts of selling her instantly went away.

I don't know much about TDI mileage but my Prius gets 55mpg on highway and really it's not that boring!

Im on my 4th Evo because everytime I sell one I miss it and buy another! Difference now is that I have dedicated DD x2! New Prius and 135 and the bimmer is no Evo! It's slow and heavy as hell! I want to get rid of the bimmer. And planning to complement my weekend Evo with Prius as DD.

Evo has stock block with 151k miles and without a glitch. Just waiting on FP green and that will be the last of my mods. I think...haha

Get yourself a dedicated DD and keep the Evo. Evos are special machines!

I hope I never grow up then. I'm 31 now and couldn't be happier with my gutted, caged "tin-can" Evo.

DDing a slammed and or modded car that you care about sucks, especially in metropolitan areas

Heh, I'm 47 and I've never owned a car with heated seats and the rest of the useless fluff mentioned earlier. Some folks just buy the wrong cars and then blame the machines instead of themselves.

A bit condescending don't you think? We're talking about phases and transitions here, not grandma buying an Evo expecting to have a great grocery getter.

I bought my Evo because it was more raw than my Cobra or any car I've driven. By tin-can I mean fully gutted. I had my Cobra below 2800lbs with everything you could think of removed. Carpet, door panels, center console, dash, rear seats, ac, etc.

I'm not complaining at all. I'm simply planning to minimally stop DDing the car and see if the love returns after a week or two of not driving it. I've driven it non stop since November and already put 20,000+ miles on it since then. With the recent wave of 95* days here it's simply been the kind of weather this car shouldn't see. It's too hot to do much of anything. I'm at least getting rid of the truck.....
