Thoughts of infidelity... *STi owner content*
I have two family members and a few friends with wrx/sti's. The low-end torque is absolutely amazing. That car starts moving nicely from under 3k rpm. But, NONE of them make any high end power. At all.
Interior wise, Subaru is by far better outside of the seats. The dashboard, the stock radio, the gauge cluster, etc. all work better and are nicer to look at. Also, no evo trans will ever shift as smooth as an STI 6 speed. (concentrate that I said smooth, not hold more power) Changing the clutch is 10 times easier in the subie as well as upgrading the TMIC. BUT, changing spark plugs and exhaust manifold is very difficult.
So, Unless you need a car to compete with, I'd say keep your subaru. If I wasn't such a die hard Mitsu guy (and I love beating up my subie brothers), I would own an STI. (I'm on my fourth mitsu, 2nd evo)

i remember beating u up the last roll we had
, but havent raced u since ur cams
, i love my sti inside and out i just hate how hard they r to mod such as cams etc. i tell bigt all the time if i had to drive one to work everyday it would be my sti if i was building a race car evo! another reason i have a sti is cause i feel limited to my mods list if i had a evo for a dd it would turn into another race car and i cant have 2
hahaa

i smacked up on my brother with an 05 sti, with and 07 sti trans swap (better gearing) and an fp green on e85. it made 436whp
my car made 367whp with minor bolt ons, stock cams etc.
ive had 5 subaru's, one of them was an sti.
honestly, i can say now that i dont miss the subaru, the evo does everything the sti can do but better, if i had to say anything good about the sti, was that it was a more relaxing car.
but the evo motor is so potent, the sti just doesnt have enough aftermarket support, as in tranny upgrades, dif, etc.
if i were you i would seriously spend some time in the evo and see if you really can live with one. IMO. if you are throwing big turbos and built motors you will run into problems. so hopefully you can deal with that.
that being said, i love the rawness of the evo, and the potential it has, i love how smooth it is compared to the sti motor, if that makes any sense.
good luck with your decision.

most of my friends have both wrx and sti's alot of them love my Evo. My car with less mods is making 40-50 hp more than theirs. And not to mention these ease to work on them. I think the only thing you are going to miss is the sound of the boxer motor. I love the sound of the subaru's but thats about it.
my evo ix mr is waaay more comfortable daily driving than my 05 wrx was. that things was all plastic inside and had more little rattles than anything i've ever owned. the 6 speed in the evo is a highway commuters dream. not to mention the recaro seats and minor finishes inside the evo aren't half bad.

Maybe the older ones but I know my wife's 08 is more preferable to commute in daily....she's stock with bolt ons and a Cobb Ap Stage 1 flash. TQ on tap, seats are more comfortable. No rattles or random noises. Little to no road noise.
wwwaaaaayyyyyyyy more comfortable to drive then my Evo. That being said, I don't care about tha stuff or would've bought a BMW 335ix

I'm a fresh evo owner. Went from an 06 wrx to an 05 evo. I really dont miss worrying about my 5 speed blowing up, checking my oil religiously and hoping I never blow a ring land, having ****ty seats, and getting my *** kicked by everyything. Now in my evo I kinda miss the old boxer rumble, I really miss cruise control, and thats it. So far I'm convinced I made the right choice. I'm a happy evo owner for now

Both great cars, IMO... But I can say that the Evo is the best handling car I've owned (my VIII) in a long list of great handling cars. I'm looking forward to getting my IX's worn bilsteins replaced with my rebuilt ones and new springs asap. It's damn impressive.
