I've got 600 HP, stock block, 93 Oct. Been abt 2 years.
Now I don't dog it, but I don't baby it either.
I have everything in hand for a build, which will be soon, just saying.
I would miss the Apache helicopter sounding exhaust. That is all.
And our transmissions are not weak. It's weak drivers destroying transfercases.

And 430, or 400 HP from a 30r isn't bad.
Assuming that the heads are stock. I used to work at dpr, which is a head shop, we did a ton of subi stuff.
Stock subi heads need some port work to make use of a bigger turbo.

I love both cars. I've never owned a subaru but have drivin quite a few. But as far as modding an the price to do so their really is no way to compare the two. A couple nights ago I watched a race between two friends. One is a fully built 35r 06 Sti, the other a 9rs with boltons, An stud work. Needless to say the sti won. but only by half a car. With a 13k build price tag I would be upset at the results. But good luck in your decision!
Yeah, both cars are great, so I don't see why there are haters. I have a built motor sitting in my living room when this one goes out. If I ever get a good mpg daily driver, I would likely make the switch to an Evo for a weekend monster
But since I drive SO much in my STi, I can't see myself driving an Evo around as much.

I see an awful lot of "aggressive" "stance" threads...

A friend of mine took this picture near Chicago (yes that's a DC shoes hat)

I didn't even bother searching for flush, hellaflush, or poke...

Sorry EvoM, there are bros and flatbills in your midst as well.
haha BRO thats a sweet hat BRO
I've owned 3 STi's and blew my motor in the 3rd on with an fp green. I have had 2 Evos and am now looking for my third! Trust me once you own an evo you wont miss the subie. The 4g63 is a gift from god haha
I think I'd have to drive a few powerful Evo's before I'd consider buying one. From what other Evo owners have told me (ones that have driven or ridden in it), my STi is REALLY fun. It may only have the potential for about 430-440whp in it's current setup, but it feels great.
I told Steven at EconLube & Tune in San Diego (has a 630whp built Buschur Evo) that I was considering making the switch, and he said, "Yeah, man. If you do, bring it [the Evo] by. But your STi is one of the best modified Subaru's we've seen." and his Dad said, "Your car feels stronger than Perrin's STi out there in the parking lot."
James Reese has offered to take me on a ride-along... I think I'll have to take him up on it.
Idk if anybody cares, but this is a pull from 0-100mph in my car
