thanks guys for all the suggestions, The car is still rightfully under my dads name and he doestn want me to go through all this so it looks like im selling the car :/ i appreciate all the responses i got and helpful tips but it looks like im parting ways with the evo...

Also im just curious, i heard of smog hook ups but do people just ask the smog person and pay them off, and if they decline can they report you? Or is it that you have to know the smog person personally like a friend? haha

O yeah, anyone interested in buying a 03' RR 8?? haha

naw man heres what u should do **** the reregistering it in cali, keep it under ur pops name, and just drive it around, if he lent it to u thats what u can tell a cop. As far as lookin under the hood, ive had my hood popped had almost anythin u can think of gettin pulled over short of goin to jail or in the back of a cop car, and ive NEVER NEVER had a cop look under my vehicle. I run no cat have for the past 4 years no problem. Its all in how you drive, you drive cool obey the law cops arent all dicks out here, just some of em. But if you wanna go the legal way all u need to pass smog is ur stock cat, thats it. Pass it pay dmv, wham bam thank you maam. Your good, but to be honest since ur movin to la area, watch out for honda punks, there a dime a dozen out there haha

I moved to California for school too. Being a student you can run out of state plates. just keep it under your dad's name and your good. Its what I've been doing no problem.

There are certain towns, in Northern California at least, that dont have to smog their cars--just when they first get their car, then you can mod all day long. I dont know about down in So Cal though. Only other option would be what was mentioned before.

I would do like most people do and just keep your Colorado plates and if you have someone that lives there just keep registering the car for that state. If you get pulled over your just in town visiting. Get to keep the car the way it is. I know alot of people that do that.

california has the worst laws when it comes to moding cars, but yet we have the most modding cars in the whole country.

just do when we all do here in CA and just pay someone off.

Unfortunately when you register an out of state vehicle in California DMV inspects the car before they give you new plates and thats where I think it would fail.

That was what i was mostly worried about, because thats what happened to my friend with his STI. he couldnt register it and had to drive it back to CO and traded it in.

I would keep the car registered in CO while im in school, but i also planned on stayin gin LA after school is finnished so theres not much that i could do other than returning everything to stock, or just plainly selling it.
