If this is the problem, it's clearly bad for any moving part to be deprived of oil and should be tended to.

How did your oil change work out?
Still same amount of ticking after changing the oil 2 times.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but changing the oil isn't going to help. There's either something blocking an oil passage in one of the lifters, or you've got a more serious valvetrain problem. If you want, you could do a leakdown test to see if the valves are seating properly.

No matter what, you're going to have to tear into the head to fix the sound. If you do the work yourself you can save a good amount of money.

If it is not valve train, there is a slight chance it is a leaking exhaust manifold or gasket. Once it warms up, the metal expands enough to nearly seal the leak. Sound the worst when cold. Had that happen once. Get a cheap mechanics stethescope from a parts store, Sears or Harbor Freight. Comes in handy lots of times. Or use a piece of tubing or fuel line hose to listen.

Ok so i dropped the car off this morning. After the 15-20 minute drive to my shop the ticket stopped completely. So after i looked like an idiot for bringing it to them i showed them those video and then they understood why i was concerned. I left it with them and they puller the valve cover and did not see anything horribly wrong with it. They did find that i had arp head studs that i never knew about. also the stock springs and retainers are in the car. And a couple valve seals where bad from a previous install. So they are going to let it sit overnight and see if it does it in the morning when its cold. And also they are giving me a quote on upgraded springs and retainers and also replacing the valve seals.

Sorry for reviving the old thread, but did you get the noise fixed?

I have similar noise and I am suspecting my 3g ITM lifters I put when I was doing Tomei cams install gave up.

It is strange that it only makes tapping noise when fully warmed up.

Mine was a collapsed lifter.
