What made you decide on an evo?
I used to own a 240 prior to purchasing my '04 EVO VIII used. Prior to the purchase, I had owned several S13s and S14s I built and I thoroughly enjoyed having fun on race courses with them. However, as the drag, drift and rice scene started seeping in, the 240 crowd started becoming really weird. The whole F&F thing was a becoming a turnoff really.
So after much debate, I figured it was time I moved on to a newer platform, as long as it was AWD and turbocharged from the factory (easily helped cut a lot of cars off my list). I looked at several GT-Rs (legal ones), STIs and EVOs, and eventually found my EVO VIII that I bought at a dealer lot.
The only regret I have is that I badly wanted to keep my S14 along with the EVO. When I buy a car, it doesn't remain stock for very long, and I had done quite a bit of work on the S14. Being in the military though, I was getting a bit tired of keeping two cars and moving to different locations every so often. So reality check made me take the right but emotionally difficult choice.
That about sums it up for me.

I always knew that Evos were awesome - watching WRC and playing Gran Turismo. I had quite a few friends in college that had VIII's. I thought about getting one for a while and wanted one pretty bad. But when it actually happened I can't really explain what made me do it- I guess I just knew that it was my car.
I was only considering a used NSX or Supra, both of which were unrealistic for me at the time (NSX was definitely too real for me and 50/50 I would have died in a 700whp Supra @ age 21).
I bought it brand new in the summer of 2006 with 000002 miles on the odometer.
I love this car- I don't think I'll ever feel the same about another car again, except an '02 NSX-R which I would probably prostitute myself for if I could.
I do wish I would have done way less 1/8 mile passes, but no regrets.

As the title says, what made you decide on buying an evo?
They are rare as unicorns in Canada and when they were finally legalized in 2009 (the IX and VIII) I began looking for one as it has always been a dream car of mine. Also I have been a DSM guy for years, so it was the only natural upgrade/evolution for cars.
What else did you consider when you were buying?
Was seriously considering a 2007 STI or a 2006 Cayman S. Was very close to buying a 2007 STI, but the deal was called off last minute. I guess it was a good thing in the end haha.
Did you buy it new or used?
You could only buy the IX and VIII used in Canada since they were never legal here until recently. I got mine used with just under 40k miles.
And do you have any regrets?
The Evo needs a lot of attention and the maintenance is very detailed and almost overwhelming. I thought my past DSM's needed a lot of babying, but the Evo takes it to another level. Also parts are super hard to source in Canada so I'm constantly waiting for stuff from the US and Japan via postal service (I <3 evom's marketplace). Finally, since it is my only car, sometimes I wish I had a car I could just bang around with, and park at the front of mall parking lots without worrying lol.

It was the most focused, undiluted driving machine.
Having never owned a non-German car, I looked there first. Drove everything I could, didn't really love any of it, then a colleague suggested an Evo almost as a joke.
New, zero regrets.

As the title says, what made you decide on buying an evo? Was debating on trading in my Mazdaspeed 3 for an X, and they had a highly modified 03 VIII in the back that I got for a steal.
What else did you consider when you were buying? STI, but ive already been there and done that
Did you buy it new or used? Used
And do you have any regrets? None at all... just trying to get a few maintenance things taken care of. But im LOVING it.

Always been a Mitsubishi guy I've had many dsms and still actually own one. Wanted an Evo though since before they were available in the US matter of fact the V and the VI are my favorites. I remember when the VIII first came out, I was in college and there was a Mitsubishi dealer not far from campus and I used to go and they had a LY one sitting in the showroom that I used to gaze at after I would leave class and I thought to myself one day I will own one when I can afford. I was looking for an Evo last year but couldn't find a decent one so I decided to buy a WRX and all I gotta say is big mistake. love the Evo it was well worth the wait
I came close to buyin an sti then saw an evo in the back lot. Didn't know anything about it took the sti for a test drive. Came back the next day and just fell inlove with the evo didn't even test drove it. Bought it used and no regrets.
I was at the Drag strip with my Mustang, saw this Red car just beating everybody I mean everybody, talk to the driver that's how I find about Evo. after 8 months of looking around, found a 05 Apex Silver with 26000 miles test drove it, took it home loving every bit of it.
Well I was looking at STI way back.
No regret. Actually thinking of buying my wife a EVO X.

The test drive did it for me, actually went in to check it off my list of cars to test drive. Walked out with a X!
I looked at the 370, Genesis Coupe, lots of BMWs and a couple of used Porches. (feeling AWD on the test drive = win)
Bought new, first time new and like being the first to touch it.
I would get the MR instead of the GSR next time.

As the title says, what made you decide on buying an evo?
awd, turbo, TONS of power potential, reliable, stunning lines, recaro's, the list goes on and on......
What else did you consider when you were buying?
STI was really my only other option but the glass tranny and expensive mods killed it for me.
Did you buy it new or used?
used, 50k miles. no car payments FTW !
And do you have any regrets?
not buying one earlier. =)

My town is dominated by WRXs and STIs and there are only 3 evos (including me).. I was just about done with my 95 eclipse and I was searching for about 3 months. I found a really clean 05 WRX (wrb w/gold wheels, STi upgrades n such) I was just about to buy it and 2 days later I finally found an Evo. Also it's boss during the winter.
No regrets here

at the time i was looking for a fast bad *** replacement for my 02 auto rsx. it was between the evo, sti, s2000, and 350z. at the time i didnt feel the 350z or s2000 was comfortable for me, it also lacked room for more passengers and or something decently sized that i would have to ever transport if i ever had to. and also after reading how easy it was to make power over the STI, plus it looked a hell of alot better. the evo was THA WINNA!!!!!!!
