E85 or Meth

I'm trying to decide which to do.

My first plan was to do straight E85. Problem is, the closest E85 station is 20 min away and E85 isn't exactly gas millage friendly. How do you guys running E85 cope with E85 day-by-day?

Then I've looked into meth injection. Watched the AEM video and now I'm pretty interested in how much of a gain I can get with meth. Not much of a problem except for wiring and running out of meth. How often do you meth guys refill and how much does it cost to refill?

lol nearest e85 station to me is 90 miles away... id consider 20 min away a godsend.

but realistically Im a fan of methanol. youll have power on tap whenever you want and your still running pump gas thats available at any pump.

i run 34 psi everyday on my fpblack making 525awhp and 460tq.
The amount of methanol ive used in the last 2 months has been 3 gallons. that was with a couple hours of tuning the car with all the wot pulls and a little street fun here and there .

im jetted with 2 jets and 30% of my fuel at wot is 100% methanol.

the track charged me $6 a gallon... and i keep a 5 gallon drum on hand.

Im good for a few months.

Piro, you've been here long enough to know to search.

This topic is a dead horse.

I like meth because it's much easier to not source out special gas stations.

Meth is a seconday fuel system. That means that each mechanical or electric part is one more part in a chain that could cause your fueling system to fail. Meth is great but because of Mike at AWD and some other vendors, lemmings here now troll around and regurgitate the same garbage about how it's awful.

If every other gas station around you has e85, use it. If it makes no sense (like in my case) use meth. However, I'd personally only run aquamist systems.

Actually, I Googled it instead but I was just curious on how ppl cope with both systems on a daily basis. Searching just gives me which system gains more power, which I'm not too focused on ATM.

And Aquamist is another thing I'm going to look into. Thanks.

can't you map your engine to run e85 and pump gas? is it possible to run another map with pump gas plus meth? i do remember seeing ecu system with multiple maps.

Closest E85 station to me is 30 minutes away, go grab yourself one or two 55 gallon drums and fill those biyatches up. I got my drums for 40 bucks each at a local barrel/drum supplier and I got a pump from Grainger for like 10 bucks.

I like e85 for its simplicity, less chance of failure causing engine damage.

With all of the Meth injection systems and monitor systems (AEM/Aquimist), it is just as safe as running straight E85. I would say it really depends on how many miles you drive. I daily drive my evo on E85, however I have a some long distance trips coming up, and I am going to be running 87+meth.

So for me if you drive more than 50 miles per day pump+meth, if you are under 50 then E85.

I am running AEM Meth kit, and AEM Meth Injection Monitor. The AEM Meth Injection monitor kit is far superior to the Aquamist system.

Just my .02's.

What type of gain do you get from Meth kit? How many maps do you have you evo tuned?

For me I have lots of tunes for my car. I am on a standalone.

e85 28psi
91oct 25psi
87oct 18psi
87oct+Meth 25-28psi, still tuning

Once I am done with my 87+meth I will have my maps up on the net.

Also my car has 120k miles on it, and it is a DD that gets beat on.

e85 for sure. What I do is fill up 2 5 gallon cans, NAPA has 6 gallon cans and they can order them if they don't have it in stock and is like carrying an additional tank of gas. My closest station is about 20 miles away and usually take a different car to pick up the fuel. I average about 16-17mpg on e85 so it really isn't that bad of a trade off.

Mosdef go with E85. you will never look back. a couple of 5 gallons cans or a couple 55 gallon drums will do you well for sure.
