Original Poster here,
didn't expect so many replies wow.
I guess it is true, pricing is going up on the evos, as they become endangered species.. Which means good for the guys that own it, and bad for me, the buyer lol, but whatever its worth the money
edit: and I am not planning on stopping for just one evo, later on I will be looking to get a second evo and more lol, which means even more money to dish out

Damn this thread is still going?

I'll be sure to come back and bump it in 30 years to see how much the evos are worth.
That's a very interesting point. I'd love to import an R34. I'll be waiting!

But by that time the threads will probably be along the lines of "RHD cars suck" or "My USDM Evo is better for *insert whatever silly reason here*..."

Cause in about 10yrs when most of you will be trying to cash in on USDM Evos, the IVs will be legal to import... lets be realistic, even when they are legal to bring any of the older jdm evos, skylines, etc over to the states i still see it being a pita to try and get them legally over. easier said then done really.Originally Posted by golgo13

It's pretty clear that any stock, well maintained, and low mileage Evo will probably hold it's value well and fetch a good price.
However, there are very few of those types of Evo's floating around, as most Evo's are modified.
I've see some really nicely built Evo's (built engines, relatively low mileage, clean modifications from name shops) at nice prices sit being unsold in the FS forums for a fair amount of time.
I've also seen some sellers putting some high prices for their bolt-on Evo's, only to see those cars sit unsold for some time.

I've driven my evo across the country a few times and I have never had a disappointed drive. I've been in love with her since '06 and will be here forever. My kids kids will keep her going.

My 06 MR that I recently bought blue booked at a little over 19k with 92000 miles... Got it for 18 with a handfull of mods on it. Crazy to see that two years later and with twice the mileage that it was that close in price.Originally Posted by Lovinit06MR

Funny thing is nearly this same discussion is going on over at the subie forums. There they are actually talking about used cars in general though.
Granted there are just as many talking about how their cars will one day be collector cars as well.

There's a good chance that some of the STis will retain their value and become collectable. Less chance than the Evo, but still very good. Like the Evo, it won't happen to chopped-up, heavily modded cars.Originally Posted by Raistlin

I am not saying there will not be people collecting them in the future, just that I am not sure that there will be a huge collectors demand for them.
I do agree that heavily modded cars will not be even on the same level and will be over looked though.
I think there will be little to no modded evos in the future though. At the very least most owners will have done basic bolt-ons.

Yeah, this is the second problem - finding a near stock evo... its going to be very hard :/Originally Posted by Raistlin

lol @ people who say in 10 years you can import a (then) 30 year old JDM Evo instead of keeping a USDM 8/9/X LOL

This car is like any other great car people will always want them and some after market pieces will be rare depending on the quality 20 years from now they will cost the same as now or more
