Price on a used 2003?
Price on a used 2003?
Ok, here's the deal, I've got a guy near me with a 2003 Black (sunroof and cf wing) with 7900 miles on it. He's selling b/c he's having another baby and it just isn't practical for the family. What do you all think would be a fair price to offer on this car? I'm believing him on taking care of the car with regards to break in miles and the tires are in very good shape so I'm not thinking it's seen very hard miles after that period.
I think he said he owes 25000 but I was thinking along the lines of 24000? Any opinions? I'm not thrilled about the sunroof, but i'll take it, it's only another addition that will hopefully help resale at least in the blue books eyes.

I really think you are better off buying a one year old used (but well driven) example. The depreciation on the Evo is pretty steep, especially for the first year.
Why take that hit when you can let someone else?

Ok, Evo@18 if that's all you've got to say, stay out of my thread. I'm potentially going to purchase this car, all I wanted was a simple suggestion on where I should be on price. Xspeedy, I agree with you, I'm thinking I might be able to snag a bargin here because of depreciation. Still guys, I'm looking for guidance on where he and I should be from a price standpoint, not quips on telling me to buy a new one.

Per Edmunds, for your vehicle (color, miles, and moonroof), the numbers are $24,365 for dealer trade, $25,825 for private sale, and $28,384 for a dealer sale.
Keep in mind that Edmunds usually values on the high side. You may want to try some other sources as well. KBB may be a good start.
Also, don't offer any additional for the spoiler. Most options typically don't add any additional value in the used car market.

That's a great price, conisdering that most places it would be around 27,500 used with depreciation because of the fact they bumped up the prices so high. I went and looked at a used one and it was about 29,585 and a new one was 31,350.
If you figured 40 cents per mile that would be about $3k plus his $25k is $28k which would be a good price on a new one. I honestly don't believe his $25k is a bad price. I'm not saying you should go there, just that it isn't bad at that and anything more you get off is bonus from my pov. Good luck with your decision.
I think 24k is good for both people. I got my car in July and paid 28,000 even for wing and sunroof. I now have 10k miles on my car and I would buy one like this for say 24k, I think that's a good deal 22k is too low and 26k is too close to a new one.
24000 to 25000 is fair, especially if you trust the guy has taken care of the car. I just bought mine and wished I could have found a used one that was taken care of close to me, but I didn't. It would have been worth it to save the depreciation to buy used, but I still love my car and I got exactly what I wanted.
