E98 with no FMIC
Curious what everyone thoughts are on running without an FMIC with E98? Like alcohol the fuel will cool the combustion chamber and no detonation with high intake temps.
I see more and more drag racers doing this such as this setup:

My reasoning was based on what I have seen others do and some data I have gathered helping Mark Rutt with his car (goes 202 mph in Denver with 300 degree intake temps, on meth). And my buddy Matt's Chevelle runs 240+ intake temps and no detonation and it will take 26 degrees of timing easily, on E85. John's Syclone 250+ intake temps on gas!
In a theoretically perfect world I can see it working for short bursts like 1/4 mile drag, but any prolonged use I can see ending in a bad way.
EDIT: On a side not though, that engine bay is sex!

For one quick blast down the strip I think it would be fine, but even with the e98 there is some seriously hot air being pumped in.
EDIT, And I am sure all of the big name shops run intercoolers on their drag evos for a reason.

The guy above should have some logs soon. I don't see why street driving would make any difference compared to racing it full throttle down the track. Racing it WOT is going to generate the most heat so if it lives though that it should live on the street.
Just thinking outside the box.

I should have said I wouldn't for Road Racing or even spirited street driving where my evo spends 95% it's time (back road and highway shenanigans) where I'm in and out WOT over and over again.
But I have never ran a car on E98 let alone without a IC in those conditions so IDK car may work fine. No doubt it'll be taking in some hotter air than if you didn't have the IC though
