Put in Sunroof or Not?
Aftermarket ones leak after a while, but against popular belief...you will fit in it. I'm 6'6"...but I have the factory sun roof.
TRUST PEOPLE THAT HAVE EXPERIENCE IN THIS AREA. My shop USED to put them in....WAY too many complaints about water leakage over the last 12 or 13 years. They usualy started to leak after 5-8 seemed to be the time range. Even when using good gaskets and sealers...they still ended up leaking.

I second that.. I used to work at a shop that installed sunroofs, there are just way too many variables in getting a sunroof to fit perfectly if it wasn't designed for the car.. No matter how hard you try, most eventually leak, the problem is that you won't know its leaking because most of the time its leaking onto the headliner, or between the double-walled metal (or into the supports) where it will eventually rust/rot and give you other problems. Even factory moonroof/sunroof will eventually leak, but their better designed because the metal roof is stamped with a drain channel already in it.
Its good that you decided against it.. If you didn't get it from the factory, spend your money elsewhere (like tint or something) you'll only end up regretting it in the future.

DO NOT DO IT! One if you try to sell a car at Carmax they will consider it strucurally damaged, and take about 20% of the value of any car. I'd do everything you could to get them to find you a Evo with a sunroof, even if it means an extra $1k on top of the cost of a sunroof from Mitsu. The potential damage/rust/leak and loss of value is 5x what a a grand will be now.
its like sayn you wanna take a saw ur self and cut a whole into ur Evo hahah ... I think you gotta find some damn good trust in the person whos putting it in... I say no but might be a good idea if you're like really wanting one...
.....no roof....heh...imma get that money to lower the debt i owe...
gee--i have to pay off at least 20000 before i can mod and tune it...just so i wont run into any fiancial problems....
thanks for the great info...damn you all are great!!!

At first I did not want a sunroof but they took 300 off the price and I have to say I don't regret it. My tarmac evo gets very hot and there is too much wind noise to want to roll down the side windows at highway speed. I'm sure that the weight gain will not be notice able.
If you already bought the car then be happy with it and NOT put an aftermarket sunroof (you are asking for trouble). Just think that you saved 25lbs to make your car go faster. The summer sun gets so hot you almost always have to close the sunshield in the sunroof. I only get to use it during a dry, hot summer night and that really is no big deal.

Also another problem with the sunroof is it cuts head room. When wearing a helmet at the autox it makes a difference.

I guess if you're really short and/or use a low-rider driving position it wouldn't really matter.
