Do springs work the same? Yes. Are some springs better suited than others? Yes. The beehive design is a newer concept as opposed to the traditional springs. The beehive spring utilizes ovate shaped wire that more effectively distributes stress over the entire wire area in comparison to a typical round wire spring. In simple terms, the design is able to suit higher lift cams that improves valve control and reduces fatigue of the spring.
