PBsrt8 what you said is sooooooo true man! I hope more people read your comment and live by it lol so when I go get my 03 with 100k miles I don't have to pay 15-16k because I'm a diehard evo fan. Also on another not I have a buddy who has brought two evo's that were 03's with 110k+ miles and talked them down to I think 10k each time. Anyways he has given up on evo's and think they are cheap because he ended up having to put a lot of cash into each of them. now he has a 240sx and is trying to get another m3.

its our preference how we baby our cars and one would be to not let it be destroyed by the road salt. i bought the car to enjoy very much BUT i also want it to be nice and not run down like im seeing alot of evos turning into, probably much like your own. dont scold us for making our cars last

I work in the industry as well and i completely agree that the whole car sales industry is in the toilet. Prices are stupid dumb. ive been watching dealers pay close to retail at auctions for a 2010 370Z with 10k. i no thats not an evo but just an example. From what ive seen with evo's is that the prices dont really drop at least in the area of the country i am in. If anything they hold constant or have gone up in value. I saw a mitsu dealer with a 06 IX SE selling for 25k with over 50k. a little much if you ask me. My point is though the cars are holding there value now as there are less and less of them, particularly good unmolested evos in great shape, and so many people want them. Seasons probably wont help you much with the evo price changing, maybe in some areas of the country but not where i am. Also you might be better of buying one off someone who is on here and knows about their car than the avg dealer who couldn't tell you if the car has a boost controller on it, just that its a fast fun car and you should buy it. My advice search, do your homework, and look at a couple before you make a decision and dont settle just cuz a price is cheap. ever hear too good to be true? most the time it is. I took a year to find my evo and couldnt be happier. I got a 9rs all stock, clean n straight from kunal (aka kuniiizzzeee dial in) and couldnt be happier. its now becoming a monster. but Take your time, do your hw, and make sure you get what you want. Good Luck!

did he ever think someone willing to let there Evo go for 10k already knew the car was a headache? Granted I wouldn't pay a whole lot more than that for an 03 with that many miles but it seems he was just trying to buy the cheapest one he could find which certainly isn't the right decision when it comes to any car (or anything), the cheapest ones are cheapest for a reason

If you have a mint 2006 evo 9 mr, with anywhere from 10-20k ORIGINAL miles, stock or not, then by ALL means, go ahead and ask a price in the same neighborhood of a brand new X. But these guys with 03's and 04's with 90-120k that just put in an air filter and a turbo timer and MAYBE stayed on a routine maintanence scheudale, asking in the low to mid 20's... your off your rocker. NADA (YES the ACTUAL book value guide that BANKS use, not KBB) will tell you that an 03 with 15k ORIGINAL miles that sat in fort knox for the past 7 years would only book for 16k. & lets face it, how many evo buyers have 20k CASH to just throw at a car? be understanding that we have to take out loans to afford these cars just like everyone else, if your really an evo enthusiest then you should be able to respect any other person with the same interest. For you to sell me an 03 with 100+k miles for anything over 10k is ludacris. Evos are amazing cars, period. But to pay anywhere from 4-7 years for a car that you most likely brought to the track and launched more times than u can remember, and put "IMMACULATE, THE CLEANEST EVO YOUVE EVER SEEN" on your ad then your just killing the community, because chances are the person who finally buys that evo has probably little to no options since they are considering one so old with so much wear, just to say they drive one. which you have to respect because at one time that was us... everyone on this site should remember the first time they saw an evo and said "wow, THAT is what i want to drive every single day" I guess all im trying to say is dont pass off your evo to someone whos new in the game, because most likely all they will need is a few bad experiences until they switch to a subaru, or bmw. Which might on a grander scale might be the difference between mitsubishi keeping the evo or turning it into a prius.
1)I know the ownership demographic on 8s/9s has change quite a bit from when they where new, but there were and still are plenty of people who can pay 20k+ cash for one and don't need loans. Let's face it, if you need to take out a 4-5 yr loan to pay for a 15-20k car that has 100k+ miles on it then you're not financially responsible and likely going to be in trouble when and If something major does go wrong with the vehicle (Evo or not).

2) someone charging (and getting) 15k for an 03 with 100k+ isn't going to make mitsu change there mind on which way they go with the future of the car. Just because u think over 10k is ridiculous doesnt mean it's wrong to sell the car for more if there are willing buyers. (although i do agree that many people try to sell their evos for ludicrious prices). I think those people trying to sell for crazy prices are the non financially responsible ones mentioned who paid more than they should have, owe more than the car is currently worth and have found themselves in an unfortunate fiscal situation in which they need to sell but can't sell for less than what they owe.
3) mitsu could care less about the person buying a 5yr old Evo because they aren't the ones who are going to drop 35k-40k+ on a new evo. Used cars don't make money for manufacturers, new cars do and so it is what those who have the means and are willing to spend 35k+ on a new Evo want that will determine which way the Evo goes (if mitsu decides to even follow that instead of just making everything "green" - I hate that term)
