tuning question

When I take her to get tuned, do I need to have an air/fuel gauge? Also with an hks hi power exhaust, ets licp, aem intake, and tru boost what kind of numbers can i expect roughly and can I up the boost to 25psi? Tune from English Racing. Thanks everyone!

any good tuner should have a wideband that they use for tuning. it's a good idea to have your own to monitor things, but it shouldn't be necessary. also, numbers aren't what's important. the gains you make over your baseline are. different dyno's are going to give you different numbers depending on the calibration/conditions, etc, so spitting out numbers to you won't do any good. with those mods, I would expect that you'd gain around 40-50whp? anyone got anything different?

With my old IX MR I had Megan O2 housing, Megan DP, Milspec HFC, HKS carbon Ti, ETS upper and lower piping, Forge WGA, Sparktech COP, 650 injectors, ARP headstuds, Walbro 255, ETS intake, Grimmspeed 3 port BCS, Synapse DV, tuned to 23.5psi, and I made around 100whp over stock, maybe a little more.

Anything else you would recommend for a little increase? I'd like to be at 350 to the wheels.

They will put their own sniffer in your exhaust. I’m interested in your numbers because we have almost the same setups. Keep me updated.

If you up the boost, I rec. headstuds just to keep the stuff together.

But ODUB is right, different dynos make different numbers.

You should just ask your tuner and tell him what goals you want and he will let you know how you can get there.

O2 housing, downpipe, high flow cat (or test pipe) to finish off the exhaust

Mil.Spec high pressure throttle body shaft seals because if you haven't changed the stockers yet, there's a 90-100% chance that they are leaking, or will definitely leak once you up the boost.

walbro 255 fuel pump and injectors if you're upping the boost too

that added to what you already have should get you to 350whp on a dynojet if you're boosting to 25psi.

Im not sure why cams always get thrown into the mix for making power. They are nice, yes, but even on stock DSM cams 350hp can be made.

yeah cams and E85 aren't needed until after 400whp. I didn't want to go into the motor, or change the fuel system to get the power I made. Bolt ons and a good tune will get you to 350whp easily.

Cams are never necessary but why not? You can make 700whp on stock cams if you really want to. He asked what else he could change and it would help him achieve his power goals with less boost.

If e85 is available you would be nuts to not switch, i made the switch 3 months ago and have not looked back and still get 20mpg
