i agree sounds like a wheel bearing. when i pick up my evo it had a noise from the rear but only when hard cornering or people in the backseat end up being the left rear wheel bearing.

Thanks again.
dont just change one.... when you do something like that on a car you should do it in pairs. if it is the front then change both fronts just will help in the long run because if the right is bad and you change that one then later the left will go so just change both at the same time! sorry for the poor punctuation.

.
I have this exact noise. Didn't hesitate, ordered both hubs, hope to replace next week.

This.

I also agree with most of the other comments, especially about the techs throwing parts at it... But honestly, I'm not sure I'd trust a dealer that wouldn't hear that and say "95% chance that's a wheel bearing, do you want to change them?"

Of course, based on my past experience, I never intended to take my car to the Mitsu dealer for work. If the parts warranty was better, I'd *maybe* consider it.

Thanks for all the help - the Evo is now fixed. Turns out it was the left (drivers side) front bearing.

I finally took it to one more dealer who drove the car and immediately said "yes - front bearing". They jacked the car up and used chassis ears to narrow it down to the left.

I had the same issue. Its one of the front wheel hub bearings.

When i was going straight i would hear a noise, i turned the wheel slightly to the left and it was gone... Do it yourself and it will cost you about 200 bucks. takes less then 2 hours MAX!
