Ignorance
first off, welcome to the forums. when/if you buy an evo, you will love the car. once you drive it, you will not care what people say.
that being said, coming into this forum and ranting about a car that you dont have, and saying your 17 will not help your cause here. way to many threads about kids wrecking them, insurance premiums, speeding tickets, etc etc. i understand what your saying, but just a heads up.
most of the people here (ignore than "Stance thread") buy these cars for their performance. most are adults, that can afford a benz or bimmer, but prefer the raw performance. you really shouldnt give two ***** about what other people think, its your money, your car, who cares what people think?
i work for a company in which almost everyone driver mercedes, bimmers, infinitis, acuras, porsches etc. i pull in, full suit, setting off car alarms, and pissing people off. i get pulled over for nothing, and the cops look stunned that a guy in a full suit would be driving a "fast and furious kid car". guess what? i dont care. i love the car and thats all that matters.

here let me give u some free advice on top of what I said before:
Buy one stock!!!!!
Learn that power, I thought I could drive good shifting at 17, but being 27 with multiple years of owning a sports car, in an evo you learn a lot more about what the car can do, and times when you need/dont need to do somethin to correct the vehicle. So Id say maybe an intake catback exhaust, then go attend a driving school and learn what you car can do on a track. So that way we dont see a thread of someone else totalling there new evo. Just my 0.02
welcome by the way hope you get one, there fun especially when your pulling on your honda buddies. Everyones got them haha

well im no expert and i dont pretend to be, but lets just say i have experience through school and in the field. so most questions i can answer pretty certainly. All i can offer other then that is dont buy cheap parts. haha
Owning an evo or not, people are gonna have their opinions. Someone already said it, but your buying this car for yourself, no one else. One piece of advice I can give though. Be humble. I use to get worked up so much when people would talk about my car, there would be a heated discussion and no one would win. Just ignore what people say an just laugh about it.
dont listen to what other people say about the car.... if i had a nickel everytime i recall hearing my friends talk **** about my evo, especially the ones with the overpriced new luxury cars and my other few friends who are die hard honda guys, I'd be a rich man. the car outperforms most other cars in today's market and as i learned of yesterday after test driving a new lexus not to many cars come close to the evo performance wise and all the above.
take it from me as well as a few of the other senior evo owners left on this forum. more then likely we wont be getting rid of the our cars anytime soon. what does that tell you ?

What Lexus? I'm assuming your not talking about the 416hp IsF?
Take this from another Evo driver that's 17. Being mature and respecting the car will drastically reduce the number of "haters." Don't drive on public roads like you are trying to set time attack records. A stock Evo is one hell of a car, especially for inexperienced drivers. I was lucky enough to inherit my father's 2003 Evo 8 when he moved up to a GT-R. Over the past year of owning my Evo I've added a Greddy-Ti catback, Berk-tech high flow cat, eBay downpipe, Megan O2 housing, Walbro fuel pump, Evo 9 MR BPV, Eibach pro-kit lowering springs and a Perrin intake kit. These simple mods and a retune make the car wicked fast relative to all other cars that kids at your age group likely have, and the price isn't unattainable for a 17 year old to accomplish obviously. If any highschool kids talk smack about it being a "rice rocket" or "eclipse with a body kit" just take them for a ride and you'll most likely change their mind after ripping through a gear.
Get to know the car first and educate others on it whenever possible. The more that you make a good name for the car, the more that people will respect it. I've always been told, "Respect is earned, not given." This definitely holds true in our position. If you go screeching tires around turns, revving your car obnoxiously and trying to make a scene everywhere you go, people will jump to conclusions and instantly classify you as a ricer that's trying to compensate for other... Short comings in life. If you can't deal with the very minor harassment you'll receive and loads of attention, then you shouldn't be driving an Evo to begin with. It's a performance sedan unlike any other, and people notice that just by it's bulging fenders, aggressive front end, and giant wing.

I for one do not like any of the "JDM parts", I only like the car. I don't like the any non-original parts that have to do with cosmetics, I even hate angled exhausts.
I bought my evo last year when i was 18 (bone stock ftw) and it does get annoying hearing the crap people say, my town is big on trucks and american muscle stuff. So you could easily guess what they do or say when they see a rice burner come around the corner.
