Major electrical problem?

Hey all, looks like I may have stumbled upon a world of ****.

I recently spliced a nest of wiring for a viper alarm/remote start. Installation went great, had everything neatly arranged and working perfectly until recently when my battery started dying overnight.

So I picked up a multimeter and read some post a google search that recommended to hook up the meter between the negative cable and the negative battery terminal, which I did.

To my amazement, I found a full 12v reading So I did what was recommended, which was to pull every fuse and anything powered and watch for the voltage to drop or disappear. Unfortunately, with the alarm brain out along with all the fuses, the reading is still holding strong

how should attack this? Am I correctly positioning the multimeter the way I described? The battery was brand new 3 months ago so I'm not sure if I have always had this problem, or if it just manifested from the installation. Please help

How is your LC-1 wired? Is it fused?

I had it hooked up all wrong. I had the red, 12v power wire hooked up to a constant 12v source

luckily my battery was warrantied..
