little bit of tech lot of bit of laughter :D
so I finished work at 0700 this morning and had the laptop in my car. figured sunday morning do a few "spirited pulls" during my 15 mile commute and see what the logs say. All is good. Get into town, and somewhere between my place and my parents place the car dies. flat out stalls.
ok, this is odd I though. Not overheated, no CEL, what could it be? After working all night, clearly Im not thinking for myself and go straight to the forum. After fiddling F*&cking the car for 20 minutes and ultimately cranking the battery dead, I come to the crossroads. Do I walk a mile and a half up hill to my parents, grab a car and cables and try to fix it, or walk a mile downhill to my own place go to sleep and deal with it later?
I decided to take a brisk walk uphill and read through countless posts of similar problems with no solutions. Frustration sets in and I finally reach the garage. I grab a spare car, cables and make my way back, when it hits me. Did i hear the fuel pump kick over? NOPE...pull the 20amp fuse under the hood, Meth controller is jumped in there, and its toast. Put a spare in, and fired right back up. (Thats really all the tech for this rant. You can get all worked up over a million sensors, coils, battery, alternator, etc. Just look at the fuses first)
Well, if you are paying attention, now I have two cars and one driver. so the decision is made to bring the car back to my parents and seek other means of transportation back to the EVO.
Behold a relic of the 1980s that predates any Goped or Razor scooter...

thats right those are 6 inch inflatable tires on a kids scooter with a fiberglass footboard that barely fits one size 12 chuck taylor on it, let alone two...I climbed the ladder, pulled that pig down, pumped the tires, up and bombed the hill with the worst wheel shake and no brakes...Danger aside, I was more concerned with someone I know seeing me at 0730 on this ridiculous thing. If you are a product of the 1980s and remember watching Goonies, I think I had a little less diginity that Bran (Josh Brolin) when he gets caught riding the little girls pink bike, with training wheels and streamers...
Hope this brings a few laughs. Car is fixed, Im finally home, and the scooter lives on...

Glad I was able to share the laughs. A day later to tore out the transmission for my twin disc rebuild. Fun fun...thinking about the scooter as a regular means of transport. Far less maintenance...
HAHA! Definitely got a laugh out of this as I used to own a neon green one of these! I too, would be more worried about being seen riding the thing than the actual danger these things used to present. The brakes were always more for show than anything.
