I would pick the Black. One reason is that both turbos will make over 400 hp but the Black will keep the torque lower than the Red (below the 400 tq mark in your desired boost settings) and I'm assuming you are on the stock block. We know what ends up happening with Evos with stock blocks running tons of torque. I am pretty sure that Mikey at SpecOps thinks of the FP Black as a great turbo for daily driving, stock block Evos.

In addition, Jay at Boosted Tuning made 430 hp on a FP Black on 91 Octane. He claims that it made 25 more horsepower than his FP Red. Here is the link to the thread.

And best of all if you get the Black, there is always room for improvement (its capable of 650 hp).

Had both the red and now the black...red seemed to be a better 1/4 mile turbo....while the black kills on highway duty. If i had my choice of a new FP turbo it would be the BB Red all day.

I agree with some of the others, to look at BBK, or Tomei, HKS. I'd say since you're fuel limited and can't run "real boost" stick with a smaller turbo. Best of luck!

With these goals...a well prepped car with a stock turbo will run it or fairly close.
