Considering selling my Z06 to buy another EVO....
The arguments on this thread had me cracking up. You guys have such biased opinions and analogies that no one understands lol. I would just keep it simple and say choose whatever makes you happiest. Who cares which is faster out of the box? Enjoying the car trumps everything.
[RANT] It's bad enough that it's a 03 Z06 being compared to the CT9A. Until '08, the Corvette was saddled with steering that could kindly be called vague and numb. In '03 it was almost abysmal by modern high-performance standards. But, hell, the car surely must handle better than another whose steering allows it to be placed on the proverbial dime. Then we get a rescue effort citing lap times that vary by a few seconds in almost identically weighted cars, one with ~200HP more than the other and with race tires to boot. Of course it's the handling that allows it to come a couple of seconds ahead, not the power, not the tires, not the circumstances. Stats gathered at different times, by different folks, on different days... Silly. And now we get the scavengers trying to land a shot. This is what the forum has come to. [/RANT]
It was an exaggeration to make a point, as well as to make the post more interesting to read. Kinda figured that was obvious and that no native English speaker would take the passage literally. My bad. I tried being nice and even somewhat evasive in hopes of not escalating the scope of the discussion. I even withdrew, but someone still felt the need to troll me back in. <sigh>

"But you can bolt on a million things and it will be better and faster and moar awesome!!!! Vroom vrooom"
I know, Timmy, I know. The Evo is the best car ever made, ever.

I'm curious as to any factual data to back this up? I know A LOT of guys with muscle cars, so I've seen just about every basic setup (to advanced setup) that an LS engine is capable of. I haven't seen any LS6 powered cars that are proving themselves to be better off than any of the other cars.
I will agree to some point about the cylinder walls in the LS7, although I've seen a few of them get pushed to pretty high numbers. I personally would probably use the LS2 or 3 depending on my setup and budget.

No real factual data, they all blow up, the LS6 seems to be the least offender.

To each his own. Enjoy your car.
Wow! Lots of LS fans on here!
When it comes to N/A power the LS7 is insane and very hard to beat both in stock form and modded form...Working on them and having them apart numerous times really shows you how solid of an engine it really is...I do agree that once you start putting boost to it there are pro's and con's when comparing the LS7 to all the other LS engines in the LS line...But in reality every factory manufactured N/A engine that gets boosted aftermarket has the high potential to have these issues though.
GM decided to go with the 6.2 LSA for the CTS-V and the LS9 for the ZR1 because of what someone else on here has said...Needing the thicker cylinder walls from the LS3 block. The new 2012 Camaro ZL1 is actually using the LSA engine also. GM built the LS7 strictly to be a badass N/A Engine!

As i said i loved my evo, but i love the vette leaps and bounds more. The evo definitely had better turn in, the steering response is way better, i have no issues admitting that. That said, the evo was a ***** to rotate. Thing plowed for days unless you were tossing it around. Vette doesn't have that problem, rotates amazingly and you have the option of using your right foot if you really need to make it move. Stock for stock, the vette is better. Oh and cheaper, i sold my evo and bought the z06 for less money.
To each his own. Enjoy your car.
There we have it: A loose car means better handling, vague steering allows a car to to be placed with greater ease (again, better handling), and citing tires is referred to as "grasping at straws" in relation to lap times and steady-state cornering. Hell, combine a loose car and vague steering, and great handing is the only possible result.

Let me know when your better handling car starts competing in real racing, like le mans against porches and ferraris, and then you can tell me its better. But what do those professional driver, idiots know amiright?
Oh and yes, this is an evo forum, just cause you own an evo doesn't mean you can't aspire to want another car. After driving a 430 scuderia I would sell my vette in a second if i didnt have to remortgage my house.
Sounds like you made up your mind! I would definitely fall back into an Evo. The Z06 is a bad *** but I have always been a fan of 4cyl turbo fun
especially when it's built and handing the v8's their ***.

I never said it was vague, i said the evo was better. you really love to stretch my words. The steering is a bit heavy, but not vague. Turn in on the evo is much better, that doesn't make it handle better. The evo has one of, if not the highest, steering ratio in a production car.

At Le Mans "No more than two doors are allowed" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/24_Hours_of_Le_Mans
So an absence of Evos at Le Mans doesn't actually mean anything, does it?
I've heard numerous stories of Evo's beating Vettes, Vipers and GT3s on the track. Are they all lies? Were the videos I saw like this one fabricated?

I honestly didn't see this thread going in this direction when it was first started. I guess people can argue about just about anything.
I've driven a decent amount of cars (no super high end exotics so I can't factor those in) along with an 06, 07 and 08 Z06. I will say the best chassis I've probably ever driven was the S2000. The transmission is far ahead better than just about anything else I've ever driven and there is a level of communication there that is not easily matched by just about anything else. It is, unfortunately, a gutless car and really has to rev out to get the car moving. Combine that with the lack of room inside is a major reason I would probably never own one. Doesn't mean I don't like them and certainly doesn't mean I don't respect the platform. It's just not the car for me. I would say it absolutely handles better than an Evo, even if it is technically slower.
The Z handles different than the Evo, in which it falls flat in some places (turn-in, steering response, seats properly holding you in place) and shines in others (fantastic powerband, better rotation: although a tendency to snap oversteer, and a proper front engine RWD chassis). I don't understand the argument unless you have spent a decent amount of time in both cars doing actual racing.

Sell that boat, get back into an evo
I love le mans. No evos there.
I love rally. I've never seen a vettes there.
Cars are not truely comparable. Although, the evo is more versitile
And looks way better
