Oil Pressure + Temperature Gauge Discussion
I'd say no to the adapter. Just break those plugs free and use the 42dd adapters. You have the exact ones pictured above. I use both of those and the AMS line. I get a little oil film around the filter housing but no real leaks. From what I've heard teflon tape shouldn't be used...that being said I used it on my setup and its still not 100% leak free. I'll be relocating one of the senders to put an oil line in and I'll just try thread sealant alone this time. LMK if you want pics or anything, but its a pretty simple deal as long u know ur way around the car. Here's some tips from FP on getting those plugs out...

I would love to see some pics of your set-up and where you mounted your sending unit.
Did your oil temp sensor plug right in to the 42dd adapter?
Sorry for the delay man...
Yes the temp sender for my gauge (stewart warner) is 1/8npt. For some reason I remember the AMS line not being the correct thread type to plug into the housing, forcing me to buy another adapter for 42dd. So if you bought both of those adapters pictured above you will be set. The one with the little 45* adapter is convenient but not absolutely necessary. Pics...
I routed the AMS line straight up between the engine and fender well...

Its close to the alt pulley but trust me, its secured well, its not going anywhere...

Hope these help out...LMK if you have any other questions.

So I finally installed my Prosports last night after work...didn't get done till 3:30am! Driving home I didn't pay much attention to the readings to compare them to the MR gauges I used to have...I was dead tired! I'll update feedback on it more after I drive for a bit with them..
As far as the adaptor Prosport sells, I ended up using it....with teflon tape too.. I initially was set on going with mounting the sensors in the factory oil filter housing, but I figured I'll try the adaptor, & use teflon on the threads to see for myself if/how long it will hold up for. I have some permatex ready if I discover any leaks. Ground clearance-wise, I think it's not too bad with my suspension setup. I'm riding on MR Bilstein's with GTWorx springs. The starting ground clearance was roughly 6 1/4", & with the Prosport adaptor installed, the oem filter sits at 5 1/4" from the ground now.. The WORKS Croxx plate I have sits about a half-inch lower than the filter. I took some pics of the install, but haven't had time to upload them...had to be back to work at 8 this morning. I'll post some up when I get the chance..

Thanks for the updates fellas!
I'm looking forward to getting my gauges in.
YogSaahoth your install looks clean! Did you end up using both plugs on the filter adapter?
WW-GSR, thanks for the update! I'm looking forward to your pics and updates on the sandwich adapter.
I'll have to take some shots of my install process as well. It's going to involve a wideband, boost, oil temp, pressure and EGT gauges.
Probably going to have to find a shop to tap the exhaust manifold and weld in the bung for the wideband in my test pipe. Rest of the install I'll be doing myself.

Forced Performance recommends heating up the plugs to get the OEM Loctite to break free or you may end up rounding out the plug and be forced to drill it out.
Does anyone have any experience with this?

golgo13, below is a link to a pretty old thread about where to install the oil pressure sensor.
There's some good info from another member, nils, who also tracks his car very often.

I've had an adaptor plate for about two years now with no issues. It has seen plenty of track time with no issues. I use the filter housing location to feed my turbo. I used the instructions from FP and it was pretty easy
I actually went off track earlier this year, enough so that I had remnants of dirt on the bottom of the filter. Still no issues. I'm still at stock height though.
I would recommend wrapping the wiring for the sensor with some additional protection as I have noticed my wiring has become exposed. Use some rubberized 3m tape.

I also recently found an article on EvoM that shows how to install the OEM gauge panel:
https://www.evolutionm.net/features/printpage.php?id=45
BONUS: Also works with aftermarket gauge installs.

I've got the 1/8" NPT adapters from 42 Draft Designs and I recently ordered an oil sender extension for the pressure sending unit. Just need to get some Permatex, get my wideband bung welded in, my ported manifold drilled/tapped and some time to work on the IX.

I've read in a few threads that oil temps can be off when using the drain plug for the sensor location, so I'm going to go with installing the sensor into the inlet side of the filter housing.
Oil pressure adapter is going on the outlet side of the filter housing for all intents and purposes.
I should be all set on the oil side of things, I'm going to do the install of all five gauges slow and make a solid write-up for the community.

Sorry for the delay...update w/pics is coming! I like to put a few miles on stuff before giving a review to give them a good run & get a good feel for the upgrades... I'll post pics of the sandwhich plate, & give my opinion on the sensor mount locations used.. Stay tuned!
So what was the consensus? Tap the pressure sensor at the head or oil filter area? The readings will be different, but if you have a kiggly hla wouldn't the head be at a constant 15psi? Where is best for oil pressure monitoring for motor health and safety?

What I think is important is that you have a consistent reading and react to it immediately.
Realistically, you only need a warning alarm since you won't be looking at your gauge when trying to hit that apex.
