over boosting

This is probably a n00b question, but how do you know if your over boosting?

Im boosting 26psi right now. but when i got street tuned i only made 328whp 301 tq

it just seems pretty high as opposed to seeing other peoples graphs.

I could be wrong but im learning still

You are allowed one or two n00b questions on here before they pull the plug on you. JK

91 octane, right? What gear are you getting that 26 PSI reading in? When you got your car tuned was it tuned for 26 PSI? Is this with a stock IX turbo? How is boost controlled(MBC, EBC, stock solenoid, or 3 port with modified ECU controlled boost)? Is the boost creeping up? That is, was it set at a lower boost level and now it is creeping higher?

If the tuner disabled the boost cut to not have to deal with it, no.

wow i was not aware that you could completely disable it. now is it possible to disable on a stock map? or would i have to get a tune?

It's more of delaying the ECU from responding to the over boost. Which could be near infinity =p

On a stock map boost cut will be enabled. Getting tuned doesn't necessarily mean they'll disabled it; the proper way to do it would be to see how much load the car is seeing under normal conditions and adjust the boost cut to give a small margin for variances due to temperature etc, but still be able to protect the engine if something goes wrong.

First off, what are your mods?

Pretty hard to give you an answer with just the info you provided.

yeah 91 octane on a stock iX turbo. im boosting 26 psi in 2nd, 3rd, and i believe 4th when im WOT. also its the stock solenoid

from my graph im at 25 psi @ 4000 rpm.

it just seems high compared to similar setups (+) cams and FMIC

What's the advantage of a 3 port solenoid?

More precise boost control with ECU-controlled boost, possibility of using PSI-based boost control, gear-dependant boost control (with TephraV7), switch boost level with alt-maps (with TephraV7), IAT-compensated boost control so you don't have to mess around with your settings when winter rolls in.

The disadvantage is that it takes longer to tune that just turning the knob on an MBC. IMO it's worth it though.
